APEX LEGENDS AND TWO CHARACTERS

in #lgbt5 years ago

One of them is homosexual and the other is Non-Binary.

Earlier this year, Blizzard announced that Soldier: 76, one of Overwatch's most iconic characters, is gay. After Tracer, this is the second character belonging to the LGBT collective to be part of the important multiplayer, thus being a relevant step in increasing its representation within the world of video games. Similarly, Respawn Entertainment has decided to join the initiative and, therefore, have detailed that two of the playable characters of Apex Legends also belong to that group.

Specifically, in the descriptions of each, it is possible to discover that they are not simply heterosexual. In particular terms, it is stated about Gibraltar that "he and his boyfriend stole his father's motorcycle," a fraction of a story that explains why the character has a defensive vocation. For his part, Jay Frechette, community manager of Respawn, shared before the portal Rock, Paper, Shotgun that define Bloodhound as someone " non- binary or, at least, not specified in terms of gender".

If we add to this aspects such as the fact that, of the three women present in the cast of characters, two are African-American, the intentions of the developer to generate representativeness within her creation are determined. This, as with the case of Soldado: 76 and Tracer in Overwatch, is more than praiseworthy in the eyes of the AAA companies they represent; acts that, hopefully, will continue to be carried out in the industry.
