How to deal with "constructive criticism"...Howard Stern-style

Howard Stern is a legend of the airwaves. For those that don’t know him, he is probably one of the single most controversial figures of any form of media.

It’s been awhile since I last heard a show of his. Maybe I’m a little overdue for another dose.

Anyways, on one of his shows a guy named Evan calls in and decides to give him some kind of constructive criticism about Howard’s show.

Howard replied with two words...not necessary.

This spit spat goes on for well over a couple minutes until Evan decides to tell off Howard and hangs up.

Howard would then proceed by saying “What’s he created? If I had to listen to him and every other asshole, I wouldn’t have a show. I’d be packed up.”

Anyways, the sound clip to that segment is right at the end of this post.

But before I leave it there, I want to get right to the point.

While constructive criticism to some is usually one of those “learning experiences”, some use it as a way to show off their “holier than thou, know it all attitude.”

In other words, they think they have the power to control people and the way they do things.

I’m more of a firm believer of marching to the beat of my own drum. I don’t need to ask for feedback or approval.

And neither should you, regardless of what your mission is in life.

Whatever you mission is, you don’t need permission or anyone’s feedback.

You be you. And don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way.

If there are any obstacles in the way, deal with them quickly and in the best way possible.
