Laton Waterfall

The magnificent and spectacular waterfall of Latton in Astara is among the massive forests of Guilan and in the Lundville Wildlife Refuge. This waterfall is approximately 105 meters high, the highest waterfall in Iran.

This cascade originates from the slopes of the eastern mountain of Spina and flows into the Landuil River, which extends 17 km from the mountain of Spinas, and slides steeply towards Kotta Kumah and Lundwill, and finally enters the Caspian Sea. Waterfall volume varies in different seasons, but it has water in all seasons.

To reach the waterfall, first go to the city of Lundville along the Talesh Road to Astara. Then in the southern subway, after a few kilometers to the village of Kotta Kumah. In order to reach the waterfall, you need to have a mooring course of about 6 km in the heart of the beautiful forests of the region. It takes about 4 hours to walk this route. It is better to use local guides to get around the waterfall in the forest. The weather is warm and sultry. So it's better to go to this area early in the spring or late winter.

The beginning of the path begins with a mountain range with forest trees. Then you take a part of the path along the river. At the edge of the Lundwill River, one of the most beautiful forests in Gilan, with plenty of plum trees, pears, walnuts, hazelnuts and wild apple trees, preserves its greenery and beauty in three seasons. After passing through this forest, enter the mountains and then rangelands. These two types of ecosystem are called ecotones.
