Hurricane Michael Came By To Say "Hello"! Well Wishes To Those That Got Hit Hard!
Hurricane Michael pushed through here last night! We were up most of the night watching the news and keeping track of what was going on. We were lucky, we had power through the whole storm and the power only blinked out a few times through the whole night. There were about 120,000 families without power in the last count we had from the power companies websites. It stayed a cat 1 hurricane all the way by us and it finally slowed down to a tropical storm about 1 am last night. They said that the last storm to hit central Georgia as a cat 1 hurricane was back in 1898, I believe that is what they said last night. Most of the storms come through here as a tropical storm or are weaker storms.
This is what it looked like here this afternoon. It was a beautiful day after the storm moved out. I wanted to get some pictures and video of the storm but it came through our area at night and there are not any lights around us to help the camera see what was going on. We got about 7 inches of rain or so according to the rain gauge we had out, not really sure how accurate that really is but It is a good guess. We had some really strong gusts of wind as it pushed the rain into every crack and crevice there was. We did get a little water in everything and worked all day getting it cleaned up and things dried out as soon as we can.
We have some family in Florida and some in Alabama we are still trying to get ahold of. As it came across that area as a cat 4 and it was a real mess. Hopefully, we can get ahold of them soon and hope all is well with them. I may be having to go there and help them out if it is needed, to help them clean up and get things in some kind of order. If I cannot get ahold of them may have to take a trip to check on them. Areas in Florida and Alabama were hit hard and sending well wishes to all of them and hope it gets all straightened out soon.

I was down in Fort Lauderdale during Hurricane Andrew and it was terrifying!

The family in Florida is ok. The cell and landlines phones are down there so she went and found a phone that worked and called a family member and told them to pass the word that they are all good.
