No-one thinks of an acrimonious divorce on a wedding day .....
The happy couple vow to love in good times and bad times, there is eating, drinking and dancing. Then of course there is the honeymoon, the planned romantic holiday. The newly married couple then set up home with the expectancy for a long happy marriage raising children.
All is wonderful so what goes wrong with so many hopeful couples? Some marriages last a very short time while others endure for 20 plus years before the couple part. Maybe a breakdown in communication, they stop spending quality time together chatting and sharing. Work, sporting commitments and friends take over. One partner changes? Maybe one of them stops liking and loving the other, does not come home to be with the partner and children. Or even worse substance abuse and family violence fills the once happy home.
Or perhaps it was not true love. Whatever causes the breakdown can be a travesty, a horrible nasty oneupmanship and sparring that is full of negativity and even hate. The feelings of hurt and anger are the lasting memories as the once happy loving years slip into oblivion. The worse part is when the lack of agreement over custody of the children as each partner spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to beat the other. I have heard of unresolved cases that go on for years.. What about the effect on the children?
If only such couples can recall the love and like each enough to keep talking for the benefit of their wellbeing and their children. Love is not always seen as a splendid thing and some people may even see love as overrated.

Howdy angiemitchell! Some people see love as over-rated? You would have to be pretty jaded to look at it that way, or hurt pretty bad and become jaded. It takes work, that's what many people don't understand.
Hi janton, can only agree, love is a good foundation to a marriage - it is hard work for both.
Yes Ma'am and howdy angiemitchell! I think young couples need counseling before getting married so someone can explain to them how much sacrificing and compromising to and with the other person that it will actually be in order to succeed.

It is not easy to love.
True love is a commitment to accepting that one person/persons warts and all. It is giving them your love, but not knowing if they will love you in return.
No quotes-haven, the love journey with someone new is tough when you don't know if your feelings are returned. Living in a long term committed relationship is not a breeze all the time either. It is wonderful thing to actually live a true love relationship.
