A sniper nicknamed "White Death" part1

Simo Hyakia was born in a large family in 1905 in the village of Rautjarvi, near the Russian border. Now this village is part of the Russian Federation.

Since childhood, the boy was fond of skiing, shooting and hunting, a lot of peasants at the farm of his parents.

The young Häyuhya voluntarily underwent training in the Finnish analog of our "White Guard", in Suojeluskunta or the Civil Guard.

Was considered the best rifle detachment. "He was an experienced shooter. In 1925-1927 he served an ICE in a scooter battalion, received the rank of corporal and passed examinations for a sniper.

He worked for a citizen on a parental farm and did not stand out.

Симо Хяюхя родился в многодетной семье в 1905 году в селении Раутъярви, у самой русской границы. Сейчас это село входит в состав РФ.

С детства мальчик увлекался лыжами, стрельбой и охотой, много крестьянствовал на ферме родителей.

Юношей Хяюхя добровольно прошел подготовку в финском аналоге нашей «Белой гвардии», в Suojeluskunta или Гражданской гвардии.

Считался лучшим стрелком отряда. «Он был опытным стрелком. На соревнованиях занял первое место, попав шесть раз в течение минуты в одну и ту же крошечную цель, расположенную на расстоянии 150 метров», — рассказывается в книге «Финляндия воюет: Зимняя война 1939-40» авторства трех финских историков (см. сноску).

В 1925-1927 годах отслужил ДВС в самокатном батальоне, получил звание ефрейтора и сдал экзамены на снайпера.

На гражданке работал на родительской ферме и ничем не выделялся.

В возрасте всего 20 лет и при своем росте в 1,52 метра он прошел обязательную военную службу.
