The biggest difference between humans and Felines became apparent in our little room in cold land. Although it was supposed to get warmer by the day, the weather did not know about that and it stayed too cold for me to go outside. When You are in a very small room for a long time - like in a prison without bars - You will get to know each other better. The closer it gets - the more You will know about the other. That was not the case with our Human. She and us know each other better than each one of us their own. It was the Mother of our Human being that had the opportunity to learn a lot. But one thing our Human says about it, is how age seems to wreak havoc with the minds of humans. When people get older, she says, then the shortcomings of their lives will get the upper hand. All those things that were suppressed - voilà, here they are again! And it appears that the people are now more helpless than ever before to realize what caused the troubles in the first place. As a Cat, I see my life as a given. Actually, make that Nine. Nine given lives which I don't complain about. Why should I? What is complaining ever changing, but giving me distraction from all the things that are meaningful and valuable, like mice, closed spaces, places that I don't seem to fit in, laying in the sun, goofing around with Peteyboy, cuddling with YinYang and our Human. And food, of course. If all these things are there, there is no need to complain about anything - at least not for me as a Cat.

You will never hear a Cat getting upset about not having what it wants, or not getting enough of what it has. Those are human characteristics. And Peteyboy just said that this is the reason that they don't play as much as they should. Peteyboy is a very wise Kitty. Our Human tells Peteyboy often that he is as wise as he has grams under his fur. Which means that he is very wise. He also says that lack of appetite comes from a lack of playing. Playing makes hungry and that is the reason why Petey is so big. Our Human asked Petey one time if he would be a little Buddha, because he exemplifies what the Buddha promoted. Minus the harm thing, which can't be remedied really, or can You imagine Peteyboy catching a rodent and having tea with it? He just nodded. That's not going to be happening. We are Cats for Cat's sake. We are authentic and free of ambitions that are larger than our whiskers wide.

honeyboy-in-cold-land-01_Painterly 2.jpg
Some more warm, please.

Our Human once told me that, if anybody that is really good with calculating stuff would ever calculate how much the life expectancy of Felines compares to that of humans, Cats would beat any human any time. Even the Japanese ones. Or the ones from Caucasus that like Yogurt as much as I do. The reason that those are almost as good at getting old as any Kitty is simply that they are more accepting of life. The ones that take life easy are the ones who grow old. When You regret a lot of things, old age becomes a punishment. Nothing will be the way it is supposedly supposed to be. Have You ever seen a Cat that doesn't eat a treat because there's a hair on it? Exactly. Humans tend to get upset about things they cannot change and frustrated about those they can't prevent from changing. It is this part of perceived human superiority, or of exceptionalism in a world that is full of wonders that don't drive cars and burn rivers. The Universe is an amazing, invigorating place to be. Most anything goes, but humans have a tendency, no, make that condition, to abandon what they deem uneventful, or not providing enough thrill, only to end up unable to enjoy the simple treasures of life. When was the last time You enjoyed looking a beautiful flower, watching birds fly on auto-pilot in formation, like I enjoy looking into the jungle, where there is so much life?

No, humans truly believe that we cannot understand what they are talking to each other about. They err. Of course there is one exception to that fact and that is our own Human. She does know that we understand what is going on based on vibrational frequency. Maybe, it is because she calls herself a 'quantum philosopher' and while she explained it to me once, I realized it is not new. At least not to us. Felines know that there is much more to get than what You see. Both in a pleasant and in an unpleasant way. To me, quantum means connection and that is, that there is no separation between me and the neighbor rowdy Cat, our Human, YinYang, Peteyboy and Ipsy and all the other things and beings in my life. They are like the background image of my life. A quantum image of sorts, where everything has everything to do with everything else.

But here they are, our Human and her Mother in a very small room with a lot of problems that are none at all. The Mother is constantly complaining about everything and our Human is constantly trying to calm her down and reassure her that everything is worth being thanked for. Gratefulness is the best remedy against all kinds of bad circumstances. That's what she says and I emphatically agree with that. I am always grateful when I get some treats, or our Human cuddles or plays with us. There is a story in Spain, where we went through on our last flight, in which a guy battles windmills to impress his unanswered love interest. He is saving her from non-existent threats in order to proclaim her to be his. Something like this, but the core message is that of futility. There is this futility reverberating in the small room, that our Human will never be able to help her Mother to be content. Contentedness is not a part of her life. It's like she says that we are wonderful animals, but also cost a lot to feed and take care of. Cost. The cost of living. Everything is seen as how much it costs You to experience. Our Human then answers that us Felines are much cheaper than the expensive pills with side effects that she would have to take without us. Because without us, the world is a mess to her. Too much greed, too much hate and mean spirited individuals. She has an explicit word for them, but she only uses it when there is a need for it and tells us that we should not vibrate like that. If we can avoid it. But it has to do with how humans treat their Mother Earth.

Maybe I have to say it one more time. We Felines are not like that with each other. We might be like that with so called strangers, but every stranger can be that only for one short time. So it would only be for a short time. It is also a lot of energy that humans are using to be unhappy. Sure, there might be reason for any Feline not to be happy. But that is not the same as being unhappy. Unhappy is much more than not being happy. It is a deeper state of disconnection. Not being happy is like the neutral position in a stick shift car. You can even move in neutral. Happiness are then the forward gears. Unhappiness is the reverse gear. Our Human's Mother seems to be stuck in that gear. She is only going backwards - into memories that upset her. I try to help her, but she doesn't listen to a Cat. Most people only accept other humans as qualified to help. Which leads to many people not getting helped at all. They rather suffer than listening to a knowledgeable Feline.

I realized that this scenario would not go on for long. Our Human is very transparent to us. Her own Mother does not have the kind of insight she gives us. That's because we don't judge her for anything. Judging is another human character trait. There is no need to judge anybody. That would be judging the Universe anyways and who would really be so gullible as to judge how the Universe puts things into order, or disorder? In the end nothing really mattered. Our Human did her best like she always does and took a time out after another falling out over superfluous issues. It was clear that something had to give and in this case it was our Human's patience. She could not take it anymore and I did not blame her for it. Blame is also a human profession. One night our Human woke up and was very moved. She told us that she had a dream like the one in Hawai'i and that she believed it was another missile alert style signal. We needed to save our souls.

Finally there was green on the trees and the heating could be turned off

The next day our Human wrote an email to her friends in South America and told them that she had a hard time staying in Germoney. After so many years abroad, she was not capable of getting back into a life that she did not really care for twenty one years ago. After everything in Hawai'i, the fact that cold land hates Felines, or Animals in general, because all the places for rent stated "NO ANIMALS!" and we agreed every time that people who hate Animals can't be decent human beings either. She was very sad and upset about that and it was the tipping point - the signal - to leave one more time. Only this time, we did not leave home, we left because we could not get one. YinYang was unnerved about the flying thing again. Of all Kitties, she is the stoic one, the pragmatic heart of our family. But it sure looked like she would go on strike. Only when our Human promised her to make sure that there are Lizards at her disposal, she reluctantly gave up on mutiny. We also told her that it might not be wise to stay in this place without any of us, since we had already decided to keep going.

Proof that they have it all backward. Opulent mansions, but Felines not allowed. Good for nothing then.

The one good thing was, that we did not need any more poking and blood letting been done to us. Only paperwork, which made Peteyboy smile. But I had to tell him that we need those papers to get to our new home. The one we didn't have, yet. No papers, no flying, no new home. Petey is not a slow thinker and he agreed to wait with the shredding. YinYang demanded that she gets an outlook, like a platform on the roof, and it was granted by our Human. Even though, I have to admit, she grants us every wish she can. So, we agreed to take the next step in our journey and head South. Of course, the Mother of our Human was not excited at all. The bunch of us were a perfect way for her to let go of her drama. But our little family needed our own nest again. Especially YinYang who likes to nest a lot. Luckily, the official veterinary was so kind to come and inspect us in our little room. That was a big help, because if there is one thing YinYang likes as much as flying, it's driving in a car. If she has to, she demands to sit on the lap of our human. She would rather drive herself, but our Human says she needs a driver license first, or we get into troubles.

Saying farewell is never easy. Unless You're going somewhere were things are supposed to be better. So, we were quite upbeat and the Mother of our Human was rather downbeat. We told her that she can come and visit us. But we also know that it will never happen, as there is always a reason for her not to. She likes flying less than YinYang and that's a problem. Even though our Human told her to take a boat then. When the day came we left, everybody was ready to go and we were good on time. Then, the cab that my parents had organized came - and it was too small. We did not fit in it, together with our stuff. That was the moment when our Human was about to lose it. I was not excited either, because if You're in the kennel, ready to go, You want to go and not sit on the road waiting to get going. It was a nightmare. And like all the other times before, there were many problems that needed to be solved, even though our Human had taken care of all eventualities. But there is always one that You did not consider. However, since this was our sixth journey together, all of us had developed some resilience and endurance. The right size cab appeared moments before the final call to make the ninety minute run to the airport on time. Now, nothing else ought to happen, or we would have missed our flight. The cabby though was determined to make up for the time lost and we were zooming with 135 mph over the Autobahn. That was the fastest us Felines had ever been driving.

After we had made it just in time, we had to go through the usual hoops and loops and there were again issues with the luggage first, but then the airport people came to their senses and for a steep fee our Human was able to get all of us and our stuff on board. Our connection in Madrid was without problems which is noteworthy. The crew of our airplane was marvelous. YinYang, Peteyboy and myself were the talk of the flight. Even the Captain welcomed us. Since it is always a night flight, we went to sleep, knowing that we would start a new life in the morning, which was a Sunday. It's always good to arrive on a Sunday. People are nicer when they come from church. Since our Human had also arranged our arrival, we just had to go through the bureaucracy checkpoint, where a veterinary was looking at us, as if something could be wrong with us. But it wasn't. All was good and the same woman that had inspected our luggage two years earlier was there again. It was almost like a family reunion - with the appropriate etiquette. There was a cabby waiting for us and we arrived at our first station in Montevideo. Malvin, to be precise, at the Playa Honda, where YinYang and I were staying before. We even had the same room. Although there were some organizational details that made it necessary for us to relocate to a different room after one week. Since we were used to small cages, we didn't have a problem with the size of our enclosure. Our Human even said that it was a good experience to stay in a cage with us for a short time. She had never been in an enclosure before.

Important notice by the Human typing for Honeyboy:
This article was not finished, but Honeyboy stepped on the keyboard and published it. I don't know how he did it, but when I returned to the computer, he had published the final part. Since we were not ready, actually, we will continue where we left of.

After three weeks, our Human rented a spacey Peugeot and we ventured on to the countryside, where we were invited to stay on a farm of a good friend of our Human. Even though YinYang disproved of the 130 km drive, we told her that there are Lizards and she was okay. Our Human had to return the rental car the same day, so we were alone in the house to inspect it. The idea was for us to stay here until we would find our own place. Since it was getting into winter, nobody else would need the guest house. Speaking of winter. Our Human had underestimated how cold it would get here in the wintertime. Even though there would be no snow like in cold land, it was very cold and wet. Cold enough to get White Frost in the morning.

We really did bug our Human to go outside. There was so much to explore and other Kitties as well. It was like heaven - only too cold. For the better part of four weeks we had to stay inside, just looking outside. The weather was really bad as well. One storm after the other. There was lots of wind and with lots of wind, the open fire place was not working and we had only a small gas heater. When it was very cold, we would all stay in bed and cuddle.

peteyboy-and-me-looking-outside-at-geese.jpg

As You may know by now, things can get wild for all of us quickly. Our Human had found a place when she and her friend explored the area in search for a nice place. And like it is in the Feline Universe, one friend has another friend, who has a friend who knows something. In our case the friend of our Human's friend was a real estate woman and she said that she has something that might be perfect for us. Perfect in this sense is related to the fact that our Human does not swim in money. We have to take tiny steps in our escape from the Lava to a little farm, where YinYang can get her Lizards and us some rodents. Now imagine, that a day after our Human and her friend took a look at the little farm that would become our little farm, the friend had an accident while working with the cows on a horse. The horse fell over her and she broke many bones. It was like when I had my accident with the dogs. Our Humans friend did not need Titanium like I did, but she could not move her neck and was plastered in all over the top. Not only did we miss her at the farm, since she could not stay with us, but had to be in the big hospital in Montevideo. So, we were alone on the farm, together with the farm manager and his wife. They have a house there, too. While our Human said it was not really a problem, like being plastered all over, but her friend was not there to assist in the process of getting our little farm. Everything took longer than for somebody that speaks the language very well. None of us did and we had to do with paws and hands.

We wanted to see our new place, too, but our Human said that we did not have it yet. That we had to wait a little bit longer for everything to signed properly. Those papers that Peteyboy loves so much needed to be agreed upon by all and then signed by everybody. Humans. Meanwhile in our little guest house, our Human had allowed us to go outside when the weather was not too bad. So we did. It was nice to go outside after so long! The last time we were allowed to go outside was in Nanawale. In February. Then came winter in cold land where we were not allowed to go outside, because we were in a small town and not like here in the boonies. All of us Kitties were super happy.

To make things a little bit more complicated, we had another Kitty with us. It was the Kitty of our Human's friend who was in the hospital. Nobody was there to take care of him in the main house, so we did. He was a real rascal and even he was very young, he was keeping Peteyboy and me busy. He did not dare to mess with YinYang, because she told him off. Very convincing. One needs to know that YinYang not only has the greatest seniority of all of us, but that she is also the boss. Over all of us and that includes our Human being.

el-gato-balanced.jpg
El Gato. Our Human calls him El Payaso Gato which means The Clown Cat, because he is a real Clown

Unfortunately, since we were what our Human refers to as in and out burgers - going in an out all the time, I got sick. Nobody really knows why, but our Human also suspected that I got a cold from another Feline that would stay outside all of the time. All the other Felines there were more like Worker Felines, very much like worker ants. They were supposed to hunt rodents that appreciate to nest in the straw and eat the farm animals' food. So, they were never inside, never cuddled with anybody in the bed, or in the house. Here is one of them that goes by the name of Kitty, which is a name here, since it is not Spanish. She wanted to come inside very badly, like Mecha, her sister. That's just how it is. All the Kitties from everywhere like to sit on our Human's lap. She has a nice Kitty lap.

As my appetite stopped and I did not want to eat anymore, our Human got very concerned. On top of it, we don't have as much money as one needs to go to the doctor, there is not much difference between a human and an animal doctor. Both are expensive and that's what we can't afford right now. So, we try to do our best with what we have. Our Human tries to make me eat things I usually love to eat, but I don't want to eat. Finally, she says "That's it. We are going to see the doctor with You." At that time we had just moved into our new little farm and it was not as cold as in the small guest house at our Human's friend's farm. But I wasn't feeling good at all. I had no stamina and couldn't even walk anymore. It has to do with my accident in Hawai'i, when the dogs tried to kill me. They were not able to then, but now, after all these years with my kidneys being fragile, they might have achieved what they wanted. But our Human forbids me to speak like that. She says that she doesn't accept that I might join my first Human being, my sister Sheeba and our other Human being. I don't blame her for it. We are closer than anybody, Human or Feline could ever imagine. She saved one of my nine lives and I was there for her, when my first Human, Sheeba and our other Human all left us. We are very close. She tells me that I should stick around, since we now have our little farm - the one we were all dreaming of. It's ours and we can do whatever we love to do, like goofing around and chasing birds.

back-from-the-veterinary-balanced.jpg

The veterinary took blood from me and they put it into a machine to see what is going on. The good news was that there was no bacterial infection. The bad news was that my kidneys had practically stopped working. The veterinary explained it to our Human, but our Human already knew it. She knows it since my surgery and later in cold land when the numbers were not 'stellar' as our Human would call them. The veterinary said, with those numbers I need new kidneys, because my own had stopped working. However, there are no kidney transplants for Kitties. Maybe for the Felines of rich people, like the ones with Bengal Kitties. But I have no idea where they would get kidneys for the transplantation from. Felines don't drive cars or motorcycles. Therefore the veterinary said that I should have assisted suicide. They would give me something to calm me and then administer a drug that makes my heart stop beating.

"Not going to happen!" says our Human being and she is not only determined, but has healed many Animals before and some Humans, only by touching them. I can be in her arms and on her lap all the time, so it may help a lot. But there is more to it. Back in Hawai'i, when our Human was very sick herself with respiratory problems, she discovered some natural medicine. Actually it not a medicine, but what they call a 'supplement' - very specific amino acids. They are good for the respiratory system. Coincidentally, somebody found out, that if there is a very high dose of it, it can repair kidney tissue and heal even cancer. It is called 'N-Acetyl-Cysteine' and they have it for Felines that accidentally took some acetaminophen, which is highly toxic to us. Our Human asked the veterinary if he knows about it and he said that they only use it for these cases of Kitties having eaten stuff they shouldn't. He said that he has it, as it is standard procedure with intoxication.

Our Human grabbed it and we were out of there. Even though the veterinary said that it won't help, the computer says that other Kitties with kidney failure survived because of it. Knowing that, there is nothing from keeping her back and I have been taking it since October 1st. The main problem is that I don't like to eat as much as before. And that I don't like to eat anymore what I loved to eat before. But yesterday, I found a cricket at the entrance door and I had a real appetite for that. It's natural food and very good for me. Our Human said that she will start raising Crickets now, on top of the Mouse farm she wants to establish. Both Crickets and Mice grow fast, but we need some parents to start these farms. Cricket and Mouse couples. Our Human said it is much better than buying food, since they put all kinds of stuff into our food that does not belong in there.

Together with Peteyboy

I am pretty sure that it will help me and all of us to wish us well, and Lizards for YinYang. These last weeks have been very challenging for all of us. Our Human being is not willing to let me go. And I will do my best to eat the medicated food and take my medicine without resistance. However, I am a Kitty with a strong will and that can be good, or not so much. In the end, it is all in the hands of The Universe and our Human being knows that, too. But that does not mean that she can't try everything and anything to get me back into my old rascalish self. It does not take a lot to build both, an organic Cricket and an organic Mouse farm.

Honeyboy-2016-03-20-01.jpg

Thank You for reading my autobiography that is now concluded. Our Human says that it is like the Hitchhiker's Guide Trough The Galaxy, which was also a trilogy with four parts. Even though I never read it, our Human reassured us that it is one of the greatest and most funny four part trilogy ever. I hope my story has been as entertaining to You. If You are ever in the San Carlos area, give us a buzz and come to visit us.

Yours Truly,

Honeyboy

Sort:

And in the end it all turned out well for everyone...

At least I hope this will be the ending to this story, from further down the road. I like this story, and the photos are beautiful.

=^..^=

We love Your ending of our story very much. So much has come from it, and I, as the Human of the story have learned so much about Felines and myself. Every day has a new story with three Felines around. The next adventure is just around the corner. And what an example for endurance those Feline treasures are.
Thank You for Your kind words from all of us. YinYang, Peteyboy, Honeyboy and Helena-Sophia.
