How to handle your anger with the turtle technique.

The anger can become an ugly beast, if you leave room for it, it moves inward like a small dragon that emits fire and always demands a new and larger space; it increases the blood in the brain, it clouds the eyes, it is a burning that devours and can become dominant, becoming the dominant style of our responses.

It is not that anger, in itself, is necessarily bad or wrong; it is an emotion; rather, the central point is how it is perceived, what space it has left and how it is agitated. There is a healthy flurry of desire for good that leads to a reaction set in motion to block an injustice, an impropriety but with no desire for reprisals. And then there are the other rages, which, too, are born of revenge, are full of resentment or become a habit, an angry lifestyle.

That anger only happens from time to time or often, the difference is mainly due to the way it is handled. And this is something that can be learned in all ages thanks to the turtle technique.

The history

Yes, because obviously there is always a story that can be told, it starts with a little turtle who did not like to go to school, but on the other hand, he loved to play alone or with friends, watch TV and go out, everything opened. However, it must be said that at school the classmates were really irritating: they pushed her, they bored her and, obviously, she got angry sometimes, she responded in a bad way or she said inappropriate things. After a while, nobody wanted to play with her anymore. The turtle was angry and confused, she did not understand how to do it.

One day he met an old and wise turtle who suggested that the solution was only his armor: he could enter when he felt angry or almost to the point of no longer controlling himself. And he continued: "Once inside the shell, you can do three things: you can tell yourself to stop, you can take a long breath or even two, and finally ask yourself what the problem is."

The next day, at school, the little turtle got upset again with a companion; he felt the anger rise, his legs heat up, his heart beat faster, but then he remembered the wise turtle's advice. And he followed it: stopping, staying inside himself, breathing. Then, when he calmed down, he came back out of his armor and saw that the teacher was smiling at him.

From then on he adopted that strategy. It did not always work, it's true, but little by little he learned to control his anger. And this allowed him to make new friends and appreciate more every activity he did, including school.

After reading the story, the practice of the turtle technique continues, in its four steps. It will probably be more or less useful for everyone.

It's about being more aware of one's emotions in the first place.

Step 1: Stop

Source

You must stop, accept that you are angry, enter your shell to meditate on what has happened.

Step 2: Breathe.

Source

You must breathe deeply, several times, let yourself go until the anger goes down and you feel relaxed

Step 3: Think.

Source

You must think about what has happened, think about the problem and think about a solution.

Step 4: Act.

Get out of your shell and put into practice the possible solution.

These four steps can help channel anger, just as we must learn to channel our emotions, the anger should be controlled in time. You will see that taking into account this technique, little by little you will be able to have better control and you will feel very well every time you achieve it.

This is the first time I've heard about the name of the technique, but I've read and heard many things similar to it.
When we act in anger, we only not hurt other people but ourselves also.

That's right, besides the anger damages the organism, it brings very bad consequences for our body ... Are you Venezuelan?
