Dear South African Government, What The Hell Are You Thinking??

in #life6 years ago

Over the past few years the South African government has left a trail of highly questionable actions, but right now if there was one question that I could ask them, it would be this:

If you are so eager to attain South African land, that you are willing to steal it from your people by enforcing Land expropriation without compensation, so that you can (according to you) reach a point of equality, then, why the hell are you sighing off South Africa piece by piece to China?

After numerous multi billion loans that South Africa has made from China over the past few years, that has all managed to get lost in a corrupt system, thus leaving South Africa unable to pay back China the money that is owed to them and signing over South Africa piece by piece to the Chinese because of this; South Africa is now embarking further multi billion loans from China that is worth more than 50% of the current GDP (Gross domestic product) of the country. This is being done without even disclosing the terms and conditions of the new loans. And all this while South Africa is standing in yet another economical recession as is.

The fact that CHINA’S XI JINPING GIVES SA LAND REFORM THUMBS UP while handing out loans that South Africa will be highly unlikely to repay given their economical and corrupt status, also raises a huge red flag. Will our land that you plan to take without compensation end up being yet another repayment sign-off of the country, due to money being lost in your corrupt system?

Just take into consideration what happened to other nations that has embarked great debt by the GENEROUS hand of China, such as Sri Lanka

How do you think that any of your actions will lead to a better tomorrow for your people?

Since the ANC took the ruling seat of this country, all of their actions have been self serving, and it has been at the expense of its people who now have a higher rate of unemployment and elevated poverty that is reinforced by the current economic crisis that you yet again managed to land the country in.

Breeze, pls get your family out of there. It is not a land wity a future anymore.

I am saving up!!

I was too young to really remember the old times but from what my family tell me, the way they speak and see things today being removed from your home and literally tossed into the bush to start a start a life again was a very traumatic experience that they wear on their sleeves and I don't think they will ever fully heal from it.

So when they mention land expropriation is mentioned I can understand why people get fired up but that's what they want, to drive this narrative that you know its righting old wrongs and getting people to think emotively and not logically as well as covering up the real intentions behind it all.

There is zero altruism behind this move and for them to even try to pitch that is an insult to the South African people. Its just a few palms being greased behind the scenes while this will ultimately be a failed campaign that has no real benefit to the country. I honestly couldn't care less who owns what land or what they do with it, that's a non-issue. If someone has land or resources and doesn't use it to generate value well that's on him, he's going to lose out to his competitors and that's the nature of the beast.

Don't try to "level" the playing field artificially with regulation, go in and compete and show what you're worth, that's how progress and innovation is made. This is the real narrative we need to be pushing! Just be a contributing member of society and a nice person which I think many South Africans are, we're just a betjie gatvol at times, but that's understandable.

I certainly could not have stated it any better, it is all just so self serving.

Thank you for your wonderful comment!

ONE LOVE!

I'm the semantic nazzi here to inform you that you used government and thinking in the same sentence.

Edit .. on the loan aspects, China like any other lender cares little about how you waste the funds, they simply want their returns. My understanding is Sri Lanka also had intense levels of corruption. On the positive side, it's in China's interest to see a prosperous region and I'm convinced they and other BRICS partners are doing what they can to hold things together. The land question is troubling, not because of land reform in principle, but because of the slippery hands that are prone to mismanagement, to put it politely.

Apologies for my erroneous sentence, that was a slip up of governmental proportions!!

I suppose that time will tell in the end. as for the land reform, even in principle - it is completely unwarranted, taking land from current owners and giving it to someone who had no heritage rights on the land to begin with is wrong, the fact that the people that the government claims that the land will be going to has ample opportunities handed to them in prior land reformations as well as bee and other correctional acts in their favor - doing so now after having done this over the past twenty years already but now without compensation is blatant theft, and THEN of course the issue of corrupt hands above all that...

I've given up - we have people stealing on grand scale - then a commission i set up. No one is accused. There are no real defendants, just witnesses and a big plaintiff - US. And guess who has all the rights. Today's hearing got shifted almost 30 days - so we can be sure, that our grand kids might be seeing the end of this one. Certainly, the witnesses will be thanks - they might resign, but they will still get a thank you and keep their large properties and ill-gotten gains. It has all given me a reason to try and get a bit sloshed on some beer. I give up. Take care of yourselves.

i feel so sorry about SA.....i love that country and it's so heartbreaking reading such bad news....really disappointed

Yes it certainly is not the ideal situation - and you are right, it is such a great country
