Sharpening the Kitchen Knives
Today, I thought I would share a process we just went through to have some knives sharpened by the manufacturer. The majority of these knives were kitchen knives, but one was my fishing filet knife.
These particular knives were all made by Cutco. Perhaps you have heard of this brand as they have a multi-level marketing sales system where you can make money when you have more people under you selling their product, as you make commission on all of their sales.
I bought my fishing knife from a buddy who was selling Cutco, and we were gifted a few knives as wedding presents about a decade ago. We have been happy with the quality of the knives over the years and they have lasted well, but they were started to lose their edge. My wife didn’t trust me to sharpen with her precious kitchen knives myself, so off to the manufacturer they were sent for sharpening.
The manufacturer sharpened the knives for free, though you do have to pay for the shipping costs. Well, after a turnaround of a couple of weeks from the time we sent them out, they have come back as good as new! My wife is pleased, and I now need a fish to filet as a test…
Here are some pictures before sharpening:
Here is how the box came back:
These knives are fairly expensive, but we are finding them to be worth the extra cost… What is something of higher quality than normal that you have purchased and been very pleased with?
Have a great day!
Brian
Hi Brian
Knives must be sharp to be functional.
And especially your files knife for fish
The quality of the steel is alpha omega, and that means a lot when an often files fish.
It is profitable to spend a few dollars extra for good quality as you have done
Thanks my friend... I agree! Appreciate you stopping by!
Friend, how are you? some very sharp knives guarantees you great cuts, if yours are of excellent quality it is worth the shipment to make them beautiful again
To fish that there is a knife to make the good cut, be careful when cutting something
Greetings to your beautiful family!
Silver stackers too always have sharpe knifes for some reason.
Friend, how are you? some very nice knife people say or say that cheap is expensive and it is really not worth buying something at low price just to save money because surely later we will spend more than we saved
So excellent purchase of those knives plus the manufacturer is there to sharpen them that's good
I share the idea of spending a little more but on things that are of quality
Excellent, for worrying about knives there is no better tool than a good brand knife with good edge especially for cuts of meat and fishing is essential, and the same that being of good brand grasp good edge and not deform , although I see that grinding is free and guaranteed, you just invested time and shipping. Now to be very careful Kristine in your work in the kitchen and Brian when you go fishing, remember that the knives are freshly grinded. greetings @ brian.rrr
This knives looks so sharp,Sharpness of knives is very important because you cut the vegeatables, fruits, fish, chicken,Quality of this knives is to good, handle of knives is to good, thanks for sharing,
In our country we use sand to shap the knife. But it is a hard task. Thanks for your useful article.
Hmm, how long do they last for before need sharpening? I have never heard who would do such a thing in my country. We just sharpened our knife by ourselves.
Wow imagine that if they are expensive, because despite so many years they are responsible for sharpening and only charge the shipping. They must be great.
P.D: You already have a reason to look for fish.
