A Mad Man or a Sane Man?

How we all doing today? I guess you're all wondering why I gathered you all here today. I wanted to share my random daily thought with you of course.

As someone who makes a living doing advertising and enjoys a good whiskey, I absolutely loved the show, Mad Men. Don Draper to me is one of the most iconic male figures of modern TV and part of the reasons why I was so enthralled by this show.

The show has so many great quotes and memorable scenes and of those that have stuck with me for the longest time, it has to be

"People tell you who they are, but we ignore it - because we want them to be who we want them to be."

Communication is key

We often say communication is important and even with all the strides im the improvement of language, all the information we have access to at our figure tips, all the tools we have to instantly get in contact with anyone around the world it can never really bridge the barrier of senses we have.

We have internal biases, we have our own perceptions, we interpret things, we read queues or ignore them and the list goes on. Often times when we engage with someone, we have preconceived notions of who they are and if they match our ideals and that's how we bond with people.

Unfortunately, we often tend to ignore the signs or even the flat out instructions people give us because we're so focused on making all the pieces fit together in our perfect little puzzle. When things don't match up or go according to our plan we start to freak out and our behaviour can sometimes become irritating as we try to make sense of why things didn't go our way.

Free to be whoever they want to be

At times we want people to think and act the way we want them to act, but we need to realise we cannot control others. They all have their own way of thinking and seeing the world. You need to understand we all have free will and if by free will they come to the same realisations as you, then you're in for something worthwhile.

Stand up for what you want, tell the world and people what you want so they know what they are in for and you know where you're headed. You will eventually attract the right people as the message you put out resonates with them. However, you need to allow for sequaciousness too!
