The Start of my Tiny Homestead

The first of our harvests is coming in over here at our Tiny Homestead. (1.65 acres). This week we're bringing in Radishes and the odd early Jalapeño,

As well as our first New-cane harvest on blackberries!
This is pretty exciting for us, as our projects finally start coming together after about three years. The berries will make some good Jam for canning!! In addition to taming the blackberries, we also started some grapes when we first moved in late in 2015. These have just started to fill their arbors and I began trellising with some locust posts I harvested from some family owned property down the road. (posts in pictures have only been driven, I will be carving them at a later date, time was a factor in driving as I only had extra help for one day.)

We also have some tomatoes and eggplant growing, but the sun wouldn't allow me to take pictures last night. Our plan is to harvest our own seeds year after year (heirloom) to keep our own supply healthy. (also maybe integrating the seeds with The Wandering Library traveler community support project, where we trade seeds for seeds with other travelers in order to correct any genetic drift depending on local laws)
Plans for Winter crops/early spring-
-We will be planting potatoes as we head into summer for a late fall/early winter harvest
-Planting Garlic on a small plot for personal use/possible expansion into farmers markets
-Starting a compost bin to feed all these crops over the years to come!
-Maple syrup production in Feb/Mar
One of our long term hopes is to trade produce and goods with Intentional communities locally (mostly seeds and syrup) for information about crops, and possible labor help when we buy our large land plot. Thanks for reading, and as always feedback is encouraged and appreciated.
