A Happy Place

in #life5 years ago

Hi Everyone 😺

The other day we went to the Happy Place art exhibit https://www.happyplace.me/about/ I've never been to this sort of thing before and decided to give it a chance. Happy Place is a space where there is creative art and photography is highly encouraged. Unfortunately, there were no pets allowed so #Crypticat had to stay at home. Pictures that weren't full of people were difficult to take, we managed to get a few all while doing our best to avoid excessive lineups for that perfect shot.

One day I was walking by and saw this exhibit pop up and thought what is this? It looks rather creepy in the dark but if a mere $35.00 gbrings me to a happy place then why not, it's something new to try. The inside was much brighter and happier-there are random 3D art exhibits which you can be a part of and contort yourself in such a way to take creative photos with unique backgrounds. If you are interested check out the website https://www.happyplace.me/wearehappyplace/

Here are some of the photos we managed to take without anyone in them, there are all sorts of places you can stand, sit, climb, etc to get that perfect photo

The last one had holes with ladders so you could pop up and pretend you are in a magical field of plastic flowers. The entire place had a very make-believe feel to it and there were hoards of image-obsessed millennials. The Instagram and selfie-generation were out in full force-the most interesting part were the people trying to get that perfect opportunity to show how happy they are to their online friends. I am not one to wait in long lines so we skipped most of those. The true meaning behind the art was found in watching narcissistic individuals line up and contort themselves in a vain attempt at showing off their artificial happiness.

People's fishing stories are more believable than the emotion in their Instagram photos. Part of the reason why I quit Facebook years ago was due to the vanity of the experience. #Steemit
