Attention is a currency?

Every few years we see phrases like "data is the new fuel". Now we see "attention as currency".

What do people want attention for? Fame has a social value. A famous person can do things and go places where a person less famous cannot go or which a less famous person cannot do.

It is true that when attention is won, there are tendencies that cool negotiations can be made. When the negotiator does his job well, trust and investment can be won. TO me, trust is the height of characteristic for a currency. We invest in currencies we trust. This, one can say that attention is a currency.

Started the day with the wife turning on a Pewdiepie video covering the story of this African American girl made up the fake story that she believed she was white to get on Dr. Phil - played the whole thing out until the end, making herself look like a completely delusional idiot just to get her and her mom on public TV...

A pretty mind-boggling example of the extent people will go to for attention, irregardless of whether it’s positive or negative.

Not exactly recommending watching it, but if for whatever reason anybody reading this feels compelled:
