Forward Thinking

in #life5 years ago

I am in the middle of a heated discussion with someone about the future of many things and many industries.

Specifically, we are talking about investments and tokenization of assets.

My friend is slow to learn when it cokes to technology.. It kind of blows over his head.

Wheras I am quick to think that technology is going to take over many industries... As it has proven to do so in the past and continues to do so today.

As new technologies come out that prove to be more efficient and better for business, these technologies take over.

To me, it's that simple.

Tokenization of assets is something that is not an option in my mind. It is an inevitability.

How can assets not be tokenized?

Tokens are vastly more efficient and vastly more scalable.

They bring incredible levels of liquidity to even the most illiquid of assets.

I used to example of homes to illustrate this.

Homes are illiquid! They are a huge asset and typically very expensive.

What if the masses could buy into portfolios of homes. Say a portfolio has 1,000 homes in it.

These homes may be a diversified group of homes of some kind that are then leased out to renters who pay the portfolio a monthly rent based on the value of the home.

To live there, they pay rent.

The "home owner" is then a diversified set of people who just own fractions of each home.

This way, people can have a diversified real estate investment added to their financial strategy.

Does this make more sense than having people go into massive debt for 40+ years with mortgages through banks? In my mind it makes perfect sense. In my friends mind... not so much.

Sort:

One who thinks big and positive is one bound to succeed in life. Anyone who keeps thinking backwardly is like a time-bomb waiting to explode and when it does will sure affect its environs adversely.

The reason people find it difficult to pay for something is due to the fact that there is a false idle (government) who keeps robbing them and manipulating prices. Many people have been duped. But Owning a part of a home just doesn't make sense to me. It sounds like collective ownership which is what "anarcho communists" believe in. I disagree with that sort of thing. Maybe you can elaborate more on what you are saying, particularly with tokenization. Do you mean investing through a blockchain and using cryptocurrency? How would it work? Who would live in said home? Sorry if I have lots of questions. This is very interesting to me :)
