Travelling through time
When you think about it, it's what we do. Travel through time. All of us. Day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute.
We do what we do, every day, and time goes by.
Month by month, year by year.
Time goes by.
Four and a half billion years ago the earth was created from a bunch of asteroids and meteors and other cosmic detritus. Time passed. Oceans, forests, insects, critters of all shapes and sizes came and went.
The earth, and all of its inhabitants, is travelling through time. Life is born and it dies, on the individual level, and for entire species.
Wanting the world to stand still, culturally, socially, geopolitically, is (as Buddhists have it) as nonsensical as wanting a chicken to be a duck.
It's just never going to happen.
Even the desolate Middle Ages eventually gave way to the Renaissance, because time just doesn't stand still.
The Earth is travelling in space, circumnavigating the galaxy every couple of hundred billion years. And as it does, we, its passengers, are travelling through time.
