What do you think about legalizing the death penalty in all countries? ?
This is a philosophical and controversial question that requires a lot of thought. Due to the complex nature of the question, I will respond with the following:
This is Judge Death. He represents everything you think he does. This includes the sci-fi and the supernatural element from the Judge Dredd universe. Above all, the desire to wipe out all living matter in the multiverse; one dimension at a time.
He had the perfect reasoning to why death penalty is a necessity. Let's face it, life is a crime itself. If there were no life, there would be no crime.
Why let people linger around so they could make more "mistakes". Take them out of the equation and you can guarantee nothing bad will ever come from them again!
Some may argue the human side of things, but that's irrelevant. The chance of anyone committing any wrongdoing is 0% when they are dead. Think about it, 0%. How does rehabilitation work? Not 100% fool-proof that's for sure!
In all seriousness, I do not believe in the complete removal of capital punishment. The bar to justify this decree may need to be higher. Against people who intend on (or already did) causing mass harm to society and those around them? I firmly believe it is justified. Accidental manslaughter? That might not fit the bill.
Regardless where people sit on the issue, there is one truth about the death penalty:
It prevents the recipient from committing any more actions.
Would life in prison be more humane? Why is a life of confinement any better than a swift end to acting in this existence? For those who are religious, what about Saul's conversion into Paul?
At the end of the day, the question of legality demands judgement from case to case, or even the necessity at the time. It's too simple to declare black and white on the issue.
In some cases I would say yes, but then there's cases where the blame is placed on innocent peoples, so in all honesty my answer would be no!!!
