Ombudsman Uncovers Failures By Children's Services

Introduction

Tasting a little bit of revenge on a Saturday night while sipping a glass of wine is just what the doctor ordered for me. I hope all reading this feel the same.

If you are unfamiliar with what an Ombudsman is, please refer to my article https://steemit.com/life/@entrepreneur916/ombudsman-how-a-citizen-representative-can-help-you-combat-family-services-corruption-for-free, which also includes a list of services and contact info for all 50 US States.

The Ombudsman Brings Failures to Light

The State Ombudsman Office of Alaska just recently opened two investigations into the Office of Child Services involving a particular caseworker.

One case was involving an out-of-state father who attempted to contact the case worker more than 130 times trying to get his daughter from the high risk home. His caseworker never responded, nor did the caseworker ever initiate an investigation with numerous reports of sexual abuse from the foster father (including the girls teacher and counselor). It wasn't until several months later that any investigation was done and the child removed...several more months of her being sexually abused without a damn thing done.

The foster father is to be tried for none counts of sexual abuse to a minor.

The worker is also involved in a case where a baby was taken from the mother in Arizona and placed with a non-relative in the State of Alaska. This was done even though the great-grandfather of the child resided in Arizona, and OCS is legally required to attempt to place the child in the same state if there are qualified relatives.

The caseworker was contacted 27 times to place the baby with the great-grandfather and refused to do so for more than two years. The caseworker lied to the courts saying that she had started the process twice for the baby in court, when in reality she never did.

State Ombudsman Linda Lord-Jenkins said this one the case;

“In both of these cases relatives were very interested and took very proactive steps to try to get OCS to initiate the studies that could lead to the children being placed with them,” Lord-Jenkins said during a phone interview. “And the caseworker didn’t initiate them and didn’t initiate them for long periods of time despite the obligations and reminders to do so. And that’s very distressing.”

Also to note, this particular caseworker has had eight complaints since 2015.

When addressing this issue, OCS Director Christy Lawton stated;

“...that is the reality when caseworkers are carrying twice or three times the recommended average, which has been the case, particularly in our Mat-Su office for the past year.”

High caseload seems to be the common theme here, but I speculate not all cases involve such extreme situations as these. With everything going on, why were these cases not given priority? Having a little girl repeatedly raped and telling everyone about it and you couldn't get to it because of your "caseload"?

That is complete and utter nonsense. An emphatic person that cares about what they do would lose sleep over this. What if your child was the child being sexually abused, would you just stand by because you're life is too busy? No, you are a mother and your job as a mother is to protect your child. As a caseworker, you have a sworn duty to protect your caseload..with some being priority.

Conclusion

Simple truth of the matter is that this caseworker just doesn't care, and hasn't cared for a while, call it for what it really is.

It is refreshing to see this office publicly identify and come forward with this information to the public, a public that has very little trust in the government due to the out of control corruption and special interests. Currently, with all of the blatant legal violations and ethical issues with this caseworker, OCS has placed this caseworker under a different supervisor.

The take-away from this is that the Ombudsman has shed light on this issue with the department and given the parents a voice to be heard. It is plain as day the corruption and inability of these departments, and more and more people are starting to see it for what it is.

Governments around the world,
are using "Child Protection Agencies"
to take children away from loving families
and place them in foster care or group homes
or put up for adoption.
THESE FAMILIES NEED PROTECTING.

Thank-you @entrepreneur916 for supporting @familyprotection

protecting kids must be duty for all of us

My book, An Orphan's Tale, was written and will be released in 2020. I was in the human trafficking system know as, "foster care" in NM from the ages of 1 1/2 to 3. I was in 34 foster homes in less than 2 years. What is done to children in the foster care system is reprehensible but there is an untold story. The story of the foster kids armed with enough carnal of the world to tear a normal person and family to shreds. An Orphan's Tale will take you on the journey once released. God Bless the men and women who dedicate their life to protecting those who are not capable of protecting themselves and in some cases protecting them from even their own selves. Thank you @entrepeneur916

That is truly incredible

Too bad that the ombudsman can't make the Social Worker be fired from their job as they will only go on to cause damage to more children and families.

Parents are not given any chances to be reunited with their children once they have made a (supposed) mistake. Yet Social Workers are allowed to make mistake after mistake that causes multiple the children to be abused or neglected, and they never seems to lose their jobs.

Having them bring the attention to the public and exposing the corruption allows more of us to see it and demand action. I see the Ombudsman as another tool for us to chip away at the mountain of corruption.

I also noticed that my last post received a 100% vote from you, then dropped to a 0%. Is this content not appropriate for the group, am I going in the wrong direction?

Sorry. I had thought that I was voting from the @familyprotection account when I gave it the 100% vote. Then I undid it right aways and voted from fp instead. I meant to go back to my account right aways and give you a vote, but got distracted. I've done so now though. Mark & I both have the voting keys for @familyprotection.

Awesome. Ok. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything outside the groups best interests.

Well, if it's been voted on and resteemed already by @familyprotection then you are a-okay. Sometimes my own vote or Mark's, doesn't come in until a bit later.

Ok. Noted. I'm super excited for the apparel...gonna make a video with one. I think it'll do well and delegate more steem to @familyprotection.

I read how these caseworkers or contacted so many times. When a normal person screws up on the job they lose her job. , why are case workers so exempt from this in sheltered. It's like their jobs are being protected for them and they can do whatever they want to do they can be out to lunch and it doesn't matter. That's really messed up. Their job security is protected more than the welfare of the child. Thanks for sharing

Exactly! It's infuriating to say the least! However, things are getting exposed and the fight continues n many fronts.
