Generations of Change - Will you Live Up to the Integrity of Your Soul?

in #life5 years ago

At the @gardenofeden we are questioning, and living on the cutting edge.

We are integrating solutions to many of life's "problems". We are not spending our energy in resisting what is, but instead we are focusing on creating something that feels better.

There are many people who can feel what we are doing,
excited to see it happening, and supportive in their own ways.

And there are also those who make up ideas about what we're doing,
fearful of change, and serve up a dose of  judgment about it.

It is interesting to review our experiences of almost a decade at the @gardenofeden,
and to see how each generation (or general age group) has formed their perspectives, as well as the differing levels of desire and ability to digest what we're offering, and to activate and live their own life of inspired passion.

Generalizations are not really fitting, but I have noticed that there are some similarities within groups of people passing through the GOE I'd like to share.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The majority of the people who come through the @gardenofeden are in their late teens to their late 20s.   They are doing a lot of questioning, and seek validation for their discomfort in participating in society as it now stands.  Many are already in debt as much as their parents, if not more.  They feel burdened by their higher education they aren't inspired to utilize, one which they feel enslaved to "repay".  Many others are bucking the system, by not following the prescribed path laid before them, often before they were born.  They feel called to a life different than the example their parents have given them -- being in debt, sick and/or on medications, over weight, under paid, hating Mondays, living for weekends, doing a job all day long that they only do because they get paid to do it, get only a couple of weeks out of the entire year to do what they really want to do, and then have to work the rest of the year to pay for that vacation from their life.  They see that many parents just can't wait to have a moment to sit on the couch and have a beer, tuning into the life of someone else on t.v., not being terribly overjoyed by the life they have created for themselves.  The young people are not convinced that they too should just accept what is and make the best of it, even though this is just the way things are and everyone else is doing it too.

Those coming through the GOE of this age bracket express that they don't want that kind of life.  They don't want to end up like their parents.  They want a life that brings more joy and more fulfillment.  They want to experience being healthy and alive  So some rebel. act out, drop out. run, or self medicate.  They say that if they follow down the "acceptable" path, they will be acting against their soul's purpose, and they will forever have to live with their complacency, even though their dream calls them to be their true selves.  They come to the @gardenofeden for a glimpse of hope.

Often these young people don't have many real skills, as the life most have lived has been one dictated by someone else, namely their parents, teachers, and employers.  Some don't even think about doing something as simple as taking out the trash, as it was always a "chore" they've been mandated to be a part of and have a lot of resistance to.   They've been busy learning all the things they were told to learn, regardless if they care about them or not. Often they don't even know what they like because they haven't had time to really delve into their own true interests, nor taken the full responsibility for their existence. They generally feel sad that their relationships with their families are not what they want them to be, but often feel they cannot relate to them through shared perspective.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

A fewer number of people in their 30s and 40s come through the @gardenofeden.  Many of this age group have gotten a taste of what the American Dream has to offer, and are tired of the rat race.  They want a more simple life and a more natural upbringing for their children.  They're getting burned out and have often very little to show for it.  They know something is "wrong", but don't know how to make it "right", or what that even means.  They are searching for answers--something that calls to them from the heart.

Often these 30 and 40 somethings have gotten some experience with their "jobs", and they have acquired some skills, but generally not ones they are really passionate about.  This generation of people are generally already in debt for multiple "necessities", and are having to take a big leap of faith in even considering to make a life change, especially after having already made such a sizable and valuable investment in creating their present life.  People at this age are also quite set in their ways already, and have lots of worries of how they will care for their growing families, they have to deal with ex's and differing ideas on how to raise their children, have trauma in their relationships and/or jobs that keep them boxed in with stress, and living by ideas of old.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Fewer still to visit the @gardenofeden or spend any substantial amount of time here, are those in their mid forties and up.  The ideas of society and how one is supposed to live are very engrained in most people of this age.  They have struggled to get where they are, and having found some relative success, or not, they are looking forward to the day of retirement when they can finally do what they want. They spend all their time making money so that some day they will be financially stable, feeling this is where much of their freedom lies.  Most have bought completely into the medical, educational, political, financial and legal systems. Most have forgotten what it feels like to feel really good, and are disempowered in caring for their own health.  Most have been dosed with mercury fillings, fluoridated water, vaccinations, and experienced a limited perspective of education.   They did not have the luxury of growing up with an internet full of expansive information, they just learned and are living what they were taught.

I've heard remarks such as "I remember when I was so carefree and hopeful!" and express that they wished they were still that way. Some just have straight up judgment on anyone who does anything out of the norm.  Some thought they misbehaved as children so got themselves in line and then controlled their kids to keep them from going down that same rebellious path. When one has built a life around certain ideas, it is much easier to just be complacent and continue to live and believe what you've always believed, just like society has trained most of us to be. There is no real inspiration for change, as the long-term goal of retirement is rounding the corner, and they may already be more than half way to their grave.

So with all that said, it is obvious to me that the older we get, the less likely we are to rethink our current situation,
to be open to new possibilities, and to instigate or integrate change,
.

It is also obvious that generally the younger we are, the fewer ideas we have about how we are supposed to be.
We are much more likely to seek alternative ways to live, be more open to considering options that truly benefit the self and society as a whole, and go out on a limb to forge the way and make it happen.

I see this era as time for radical change,
leaving behind stressful struggling for survival,
to embrace the joys of thrival.
Not only is it our privilege, but our duty
to help build a better world.

We are setting an example at the @gardenofeden,
to show there are other possibilities for a life well-lived.
The life we live here is not necessarily for everyone,
but if this life is possible, that means other ways are possible too.

I'm grateful for Steem, where we can share the experiences of
conscious living with people of all ages and backgrounds around the globe.
Where we can help each other to question the status quo,
and pass on some sustainable solutions that enhance our own lives and
that of generations to come.

I hope you take the opportunity to rethink what is not working for you,
choose and integrate for yourself a reality that truly moves you.

Very, very, well done! This is a conversation we have had so many times. It's so awesome that you wrote it down and so well.

I'm really excited about the new science that is finding the brain links between expecting the past to define the future and how to make an intention and change it, creating the life we want. As a woman having 54 years I am getting younger everyday.

I'm loving your steem!

There haven't been many near our age that have taken the leap, or even still that see what is really going on. Grateful that you know, and that you continue to tune in and support the potential. Thanks for the comment. Glad to have shared this in print.

There is so much entrenched historical habit energy out there. So many people are built into the system, hook, line and sinker. I believe the next decade or so will be pivotal in our collective change.

The very physics of living on a planet with a rising population and limited resources mandates that we go through some major changes imho. I think there are many indications that this change will bring about a much better life for us all with a global abundance and prosperity for all people, plants and minerals.

I really like your post, it is very insightful in many ways.

I also believe now is the time for pivotal change. Steemit has given me hope through connecting with others from around the globe who see the ridiculousness of the "American Dream" and who at least see the potential for change happening through cryptocurrency. I'm super grateful for those who are act on their awareness.

It is obvious that the present state of things is not sustainable and the maker of its own demise. I really hope we experience major change in our lifetime--for the better!

Super appreciate your comment @lightsplasher!

I am in that 40 and above group. Lol would love to come visit someday

I am too @andre-ager! It's a rarity I see people my age around here, and generally if they are, they often experience cognitive dissonance to a greater degree than those who are younger. It seems there are some pretty bright minds in this age group on Steemit--at least seeing part of the bigger picture, even if unable to truly embrace and live it. We really love to share with those who are ready! Thanks for being here @andre-ager.

This is a wonderful write about this garden, am reading for the very first time tho, it really beautiful to see old thing been updating/modernize compare to our age!!!

Those teens have alot to learn, they are with no experience about those, but I believe by doing so, they will continue to learn and they will acquire experience and knowledge.

Very good looking at those environment, nothing beautiful than natural..

Thanks for share.

I am 20, am coming, I have so many things to learn, I like to stay close to people at that age range, they seems to know more about life, just so you know am posting about life lessons from my point of view, I hope to learn more I am also following @gardenofeden, you look great caring that baby, she needs pant😁, nice blog you have @everlove

Even if in their 20s they don't know more about life, they do know there is something wrong that needs to be changed. Without acknowledging that, it's doubtful much ever will. Glad you're writing about life and adding your mojo to the mix.

Funny how people are so worried about pants. We were all born without them. It is the natural way--humans have just turned it into something else so cover-up their own feelings of fear and shame.

Thanks for the visit @melissaofficial.

I will admit you are right. As many of us age, we seem to develop a fear change. We seem to cling to the status quo. I am hoping to age a bit differently :) So much that is wrong with the world, could be fixed...

Thank you for your visit earlier. I always appreciate it :)

It seems like we just come to expect that "that is just the way it is", and often feel powerless to do anything about it, as there are some definite ramifications for stepping out of society's norm. But if we don't do something, we will be handing our children an even more disgusting mess and we just can't let that happen on our watch. We have to wake up and take the reigns. I know I am not here to sit and watch things fester. We have to take responsibility for all that takes place while we are here. We are the power!!

Always a blessing to visit you @old-guy-photos. I appreciate a visit from you too.
