My Thoughts After Yesterday's "Steemit Inc." Live Webinar

in #life5 years ago

So, it's done. The live stream planned by Steemit Inc. took place yesterday and very interesting it was to watch. I finished checking out the rest this morning as I had a pre-planned dinner schedule last night. I also noticed a few posts put out by various Steemians on the matter which I found pretty constructive. Well, plain and simple, I'll apart to you my own general thoughts of it all, in an unbiased summary...

And in a word, "shit" has literally hit the fan and in a big way. From my understanding, Steemit Inc. punched way above their weight and are now suffering the consequences in the worst way possible. They appear to be haemorrhaging money, attempting to plug the holes of an otherwise sinking ship. Were it not for the incredible community it initially attracted as well as housing quite an efficiently coded blockchain and eco-system in and of itself, this project would be dead in the water. However, miraculous as it may sound, I "do" actually see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. And by that, I mean "if" certain measures are taken on-board and adhered to in a strict and logical timeline. And trust me, this is one hell of a big "if"! Let me expand on that a little.

From the moment I heard the announcement, the idea of SMT's was almost immediately erased from my mind. And of course, it should. We are suddenly operating within a rather urgent "survival" or "emergency" environment from here on out, so it would be beneficial if we all just accept this and digest the severity of the situation. Should Steemit Inc. scale back all developmental operations as well as third party hosting for API's and prioritise the core focus that is maintenance of the core blockchain, we have a fighting chance. The major structural breaking point was Steemit Inc. jumping the gun and diving straight into the "eco-system" vision when the blockchain itself needed so much work as it was. It was like jugging ten balls blindfolded. So, offloading extraneous operations seems the only sensible solution and, as has been mentioned many times already, the community is there to help. And how lucky we are for this essential ingredient of the Steem blockchain.

Even from a technical vantage point, we have all the right key player individuals who genuinely love Steem and want it to succeed. So, even if developers have to self-fund servers running their own API's for a while until this piece-of-shit bear market turns around or alleviate burdens put upon Steemit Inc. by running their own full nodes (like eSteem), I don't see many complaints arising. We have some incredible projects already in place which are doing extremely well right now (such as Steem Monsters or Partiko, to name a couple) so our system "can" work if implemented correctly. But to sustain growth and see us into the future, the blockchain has to be sound and that would be where Steemit Inc. come in. Just solely concentrating on furthering the Steem blockchain development. It just makes sense at this juncture.

Everything from now revolves around brain-storming. Getting the right people doing what they do best and performing at optimum capacity. Because make no mistake, there is a rigid time limit to all this and reparations need to be carried out ASAP. Sure, we can all get pissed at Ned and the team, which all of us have every right to be. However, because time is of the essence, let's put to rest the "understandable" anger for now and push forward with fixing things up first and foremost. The way I see it, the fat lady ain't sung just yet.

Maybe allowing advertising at steemit will help as well...there are always solutions in order to face the problems.
The point is that this guy is acting before thinking..
Anyway, I’m sure we will manage to fix by ourselves, sure.

Advertising is definitely an option, although I didn't mention it because the community has a very divided opinions on that with solid arguments either side. Again, it will take further discussions from here, buddy.

Your first words were giving me panic as a minnow. But when I go through all the post I find some light of hope.
It's you people can make a plan work and keep running this amazing community.
Hoping for the best. Looking for updates.

We're still in a lot of trouble, but things are at least moving in the background.

That's the light of hope. Finger crossed.
