Things I'm Doing While Waiting For My Laundry In Florence!
I'm in the beautiful city of Florence today, and I got here just this afternoon. But as things turn out sometimes life catches up with you on your travels. So here's a bunch of things I am doing to pass my time at the neighbourhood Laundromat while I wash and dry my clothes.
I've been doing a bunch of things in-between the wash and dry cycles and felt it would be good to write a fun post and kill my boredom too! My clothes are in #2 machine if you were wondering!
Things I've Been Doing
- Talk to other people in the laundry. Turns out there's a graphics designer, a model and an art-student along with me.
- Speak to the owners (husband-wife couple) who happen to be 'motorcyclists' which fascinates me as a fellow automotive enthusiast. Turns out they ride a nice Yamaha MT-07 Tracer motorcycle.
- I also learnt that the laundromat machine hates my 5 Euro note and wants to spit it out no matter what. Hopefully a shop will accept it later!
- I have too many coins from my 20 Euro note being changed down! Anyone wants some Euro coin? :P
- I'm on slack and Steem.chat on the side, looking at various discussions and things happening simultaneously. It's interesting how the world keeps chugging along when you are sitting around waiting for clothes to dry!
- I've checked my Steem witness server and things are fine. But I might carry out some maintenance on my seed node soon.
- I think you can get a Steem blockchain witness server up and running in the time it takes to do laundry. Not bad I guess!
- I've messaged a few friends, and also managed to share some pictures.
- I've looked up some flights for the journey ahead and some Airbnbs as well.
- My Airbnb owner in Florence tells me the tap water is no good, so I may buy some water if not use my Sawyer filter.
- I've messaged @awakeningartist who currently lives in Florence and hoping to catch up with him if he's around and free.
- I've looked a few times at the timer on my phone and at the machine, wondering if one will beat the other!
- My heart races as I hear any nice motorcycle pass by. Since it's very expensive to park a car or own a parking space in this city, many people including the owners of this laundromat prefer to use motorcycles! My ears keep listening to the road hoping for more of them. It's a motorcyclist thing I tell ya!
- Like everyone else in the world, I've too complained about having to do laundry.
- I'm thinking about the stuff I could've done such as sightseeing around Florence where I only have 2 nights including tonight. I guess I'm not going anywhere for sometime eh?
- I've surfed through Amazon looking for some interesting book titles for my Kindle. I'm not buying any though.
- I'm also looking for a place to iron my clothes. I'm on the last bit of clothing that I can wear and everything will be creased and crumpled after the wash. I don't really care but it would be nice to have a pair ironed for the next two days. My Airbnb has none!
- I've been trying to watch this movie 'Padmavat' for a couple of days now. My folks have been recommending it for a while. It's a rather long Bollywood 'period movie' and I've been sparing 15 minutes a day to watch it. I know what you're thinking but I've been rather busy. So I also managed to catch about 10 minutes of it now and that's when the thought of writing a post popped into my head.
- I think I might make a new friend before I leave this place. Who would've thought Laundromat's are good place for socialising? I guess people are not too different after all.
- I've also been thinking about Steemfest 3 and that it's less than a month away. I'm suddenly quite excited about the prospect of meeting so many Steemians at the conference!
Traveling is fun but there's so many things that one needs to deal if you travel and also work on the go. I'm sure many of you have faced similar situations in the past. I would love to know what you guys think or do when you are similar situations!

Funny to see a post at the laundromat... I used to work at one! As you say in point number 19, they are surprisingly sociable places.
When I worked there I would have regular people come in on my days to have a chat, and they didn't even have laundry to do! It was a tiring job but it had its moments, meeting people and making friendships made it fun :D

Some of my friends hate travelling just for this very reason. But it is great that you planned and spent your time wisely. Out of all the 20 points that you have mentioned, I really admire the part where you tried to interact with people around you. I think that is your nature and that's what makes you stand unique in a crowd. 😀 Have a safe journey @firepower.

I would recommend watching the Anushka Starrer "Pari" instead, not for the horror genre but the love story behind it.
@firepower, In my opinion while you are waiting at laundry place your thoughts were running all the way and you've lined every thought as Practical points. When we travel we can explore so many things for sure, but no matter where we go our work related thoughts always stays in our mind and we always check if everything is going well or not. And when we visit at new place and we get to know that some familiar people live their then for sure it inspire us to meet with them.
Good to hear that you are watching the Movie Padmaavat. Yes, now SteemFest 3 will begin in less than a month and i can understand that you are really excited for this event and really hope and wish that this event will going bring more fruitful results in your Steem Journey. And most importantly it's an great Steem Collaboration where many boost their Steem Journey.
