Adaptability - Act 13 part 3 - focus

Continuing from part 2. Regardless of wether we are more movement or thought orientated, what will determine our “trading or economic value” within our cultures is our ability to focus on and tune in to a range of “useful” competencies.

When it comes to physical activity, our nervous systems are providing tonnes of real time feedback we can adjust to. I can instantly notice if my head is out by a millimetre during a pistol squat for instance. A carpenter or a chiropractor is able to put his methods and refined motor skills to more obvious use.

When it comes to operating purely from my mind, the parameters of what will define my performance are less tangible but are still focus dependant.

For sure, our economic success, on the personal level, is totally dependant on both our ability to focus and the value of what we focus on.

If we become sensitive to the intricacies of that which is precious to our cultures, we thrive, financially at least.

Some say focus is a matter of discipline, there is much to that, but I feel it may also be missing just as much.

We focus on what we are interested in, what is compelling to us personally.
Rather than discipline being the main driver of focus, I wonder if focus is what remains when we remove obstacles?
I wonder if our base level attention is at the level of fascination by default and it is other factors that detract from that.

We need energy, our brains are using 20% of our at rest energy, we need to procreate, (not as often as we’d like, it turns out), and we need shelter. Once we have those basic physical needs under control, the rest of the day is ours.

The best way to spend that time is focusing on what we find fascinating and building skills, talents and methods that allow us to express this. Most likely, this will mean working in teams on projects we are inspired by, adding value to the degree we are able.

Sounds great, so what really happens, how does our energy and time actually end up being spent?

I still have not answered my earlier question about how a person can tune non physical skills, we will get to that, much later as there is more background to explore first.

Great article, i love and agree with what you said we focus on what we are intrested on not a matter of discipline

The people I know who speak of the importance of discipline are often very tense and reactive.

The trick of discipline is to create a story that either offers future reward or an either greater punishment for Not adhering to certain behaviours.

Usually you will see incredible attachment to the ideals and fears that they are using as carrot and or sticks.

One who can clearly see likely outcomes and then choose action based on what they truly need, are less likely to find themselves running programs like a robot 20 years after their need for "discipline" expired.

Energising compelling stories hinders our ability to remain sensitive to reality, and reduces clarity to rare moments when we are able to drop our programming, such as using DMT, having our "hearts" broken or entering a flow state.
