Best Plumber in the World Is One You Don't Need

in #life6 years ago

A few years ago we moved into a new house. With that change we wanted some really great service people for whatever could go wrong and we needed to call.

One of them was a plumber, obviously. It was recommended to us by a relative. Really savvy guy, I don't remember anything he didn't know in his area of expertise.

So, he and his team was gradually involved in some big "operations", like changing the entire heating system of the house, as well as the water pipes.

My father used him in other projects too. Everything went well or was relatively easy fixed if there was a small problem.

But, as time went by, probably word of his skills kept spreading, as he used to tell us of jobs he had in a wider and wider area from his residence, and now all over the country.

What do you think this led to? He became harder to contact, obviously, and the thing I hate the most, he started to lie (saying that he would come and he wouldn't when we had a problem).

It's probably our fault that we keep getting back to him, but we have tried other plumbers, and they are not nearly as good.

In a recent big job we have been having with him (still undergoing), we wanted to have an automated watering system installed for our lawn and garden.

The job involved a first phase of digging some ditches and a second phase of installing the sprinklers and whatever else was needed, plus testing it.

The first phase started a while ago, and couldn't be completed in a day. The problem is the second, third and many days after, no workers came to continue digging, so here we are with half the yard dug up and half not.

When the plumber finally answered our calls, he said he couldn't find anyone yet to do the rest of the digging. For someone who has many plumbing jobs, I don't think it's acceptable to leave a client in such a situation, but hey, maybe we asked for it by using him again and again?

Well, this would be a good time to learn our lesson.

Anyway, if you are a great, but mostly serious plumber, I'm pretty sure there's a high deficit of them in Romania. Ours preferred to try their chances in the west and left a whole niche poorly covered here.
