Live action in the fading light...

in #life5 years ago

Hi guys, I hope your day was awesome! I've had a good one and am finishing it off in the countryside testing out my new gun light. I came out to the farm and, whilst I had to shoot some stuff, have been working out the best way to mount my light to my rifle. It's pretty-much almost dark now so I'll be turning it on soon but my initial tests in the twilight have proved successful. Oh cool...A couple of kookaburra's just started up...If you've ever been out in the bush and heard one you'll know what I mean. It's cool. Very Australian.

Anyway, I haven't got time to write much. I'll do a better post about my gun light at a later date after I've done more tests. For now here's a few pictures from a little earlier and now. This one immediately below was about 15 minutes ago.

In the photo below you can see the light mounted to the right if the scope. I was intending to mount it above but this way seems to be the best option at this point.

Ok, I gotta get going and check this light out.

Take care y'all.

Don't move towards the light. Well, not this light.

Yeah...Certainly don't stand in front of it...Could be bad.

Okay, i am admiring your rifle. I always had a bipod on my service rifle. I didn’t really like the „gangster grip“ most guys used. Is that a custom stock?

Thanks mate. Yeah, the stock is by Precision Defence Industries here in Australia. My mate owns it. It's a carbon fibre stock. Really light. The whole rifle weighs under 4kg including the scope. Kahles 624i(6-24x56) with the SKMR3 reticle. It's a hammer mate...Super accurate. (.243)

Would be the perfect whitetail gun. I never had a .243 but all my buddies hunt with them. That scope must have cost more than.m the rifle! Dang!

I use the gun for culling (kangaroos and deer, not sambar though - need .308 minimum by law for that) and also practical rifle competitions. It's supurb. The scope is amazingly good. But yes, expensive. $3800 AUD.

So lucky to have all that game! I would love to hunt a sambar! Those racks are impressive!

I think I'm lucky to live in Australia all round. It's a beautiful country. That cattle farm I cull on...It's 15 minutes from my house set in the Adelaide Hills. It's amazing to have the scrub and bushland so close to the suburbs. I also only live 10 minutes from the heart of the city so you can see how diverse the land is here.

Great sunset, Galen! Lucky you :)
Not that I know something about rifles, but the rifle also looks great :D

Thanks Daniela, it was nice out tonight. Very little wind (almost none) and a nice sunset. The rifle is ok...It's a hammer to be honest...Accurate as hell. But that won't mean anything to you either. 😁

Tripods are cheating.
You're not a real marksman until you're a marksman on horseback at full gallop.

I normally do it Terminator 2 style from the back of a Harley Davidson Fatboy doing 80kph.

That's the new Terminator shitsu! (Or whatever hell name that dog actually has!) 🤯

Hi guys, I hope your day was awesome!

...not as awesome as yours, by the look of it! lol
Very cool, matey.

Haha, yeah...I'm lucky. I did have to go to work though...Swapped the suit for the gun around 4pm. Was a nice night out. Almost cleaned up a kangaroo in my Landcruiser on the drive home though...Was close.

Hope the new light works out great :)

Thanks mate. Initial tests seem very positive.

Looks very fun! Now we just need to see some of those through the scope videos of some Aussie night culling. Here's a great new gopro or phone camera mount system that is on my list.
