Live action: Saturday morning

in #life5 years ago

Saturday's are awesome, as are Sunday's. I mean that's a known fact all around the world. Err...Well if it's not it bloody well should be! This weekend Saturday and Sunday is even more awesome as it's followed up by Monday, a public holiday Monday! Here at least...Thanks to an idiot horse race they run in Adelaide each year.

I've been doing some tidying up in my workshop this morning. Long overdue tyding up. It's not that I'm messy, just...Well, sometimes things don't get put away as readily as they should. So, things are starting to look more organised now and that can't be a bad thing. You can see some of my workspace here in the photo. This is my reloading bench, some of it anyway. Reloading is what making ammunition is called. Reloading the round after being fired. Anyway, this is some of the area in which I do it.

Tidying up today sort of hammered home the fact that I have a lot of equipment and tools. Most of which I use regularly and some I don't. I have laser sights, GPS units, UHF radios, all sorts of gun tools, reloading equipment like powder throwers, tricklers, beam scales, electronic scales, measuring tools...The list is endless. Then I have power tools and my hand tools for general maintenance and work around the house and on vehicles. It's a long list of stuff considering all of my hobbies.

One thing I have learned over the time is to buy quality. I always buy quality now. It's the buy once, cry once ethos. Many times I've bought cheaper and inferior equipment only to have to buy it all over again when it breaks or doesn't perform. It's sometimes difficult to have to fork out the money but in the long term it works best. For me anyway. I guess quality sometimes costs more but it makes a difference to the result mainly. The investment in quality is repaid in kind.

It's no different to being a quality person. It takes more effort and care to be a quality individual. You know, to display humility, care for others, courtesy and manners, generosity and understanding...It's easier to be an insensitive and callous person but what result is gained? Like the cheap nasty tool that person generates cheap and nasty results. Just a thought I guess.

So, I'm going to get back to work. I've got some tunes on courtesy of @honeydue who suggested I give Halestorm a listen. Thanks mate, I liking the band a lot so far.

Have a great weekend y'all and remember to be quality people. You won't regret the investment.

I'm really, really big on buying a known good thing that will last for ages but it gets incredibly difficult when each and every time there are screaming matches heated debates with people who are adamant that an inferior cheaper item is "just as good" even after I've proven it demonstrably isn't XD

And difficulty is compounded when the "known good" thing is only better for your brain and it's literally impossible to make people understand that you take that option over the "obviously better" options because the "obviously better" options you want to throw through a wall after a while for the sheer volume of frustration it causes you (okay so this mostly applies to computers and associated parts in my case XD).

How many locks and things does your workshop have on it with that kind of gear inside? :O

I hear you...So many times I've bought cheaper then had to re-buy the quality item making it even more expensive than it would have been initially.

Locks? Well, I have a lot of security. My gun safes are in there also so if I have to keep something especially locked up it goes into one of those. Because I have handguns my safes have to meet certain extra criteria to store them in. Obviously mine do. Still, if someone wanted to get in I guess they would...If was home though...Might be tougher getting back out. 😉

I often have interesting discussions with my better half on this as well as she is a discount shopper but I have learned that for many things quality is better. I have enjoyed some great results with appliances and electronics focusing on quality vs not.
