Dodgeball should be illegal

in #life5 years ago

In their ongoing efforts to suck all the fun out of life and have the government permeate all aspects of life, some ass-hats in Canada seek to ban this really fun game for kids. I have extremely fond memories of this game and yes, you do occasionally get blindsided by a ball to the head. I can still hear the sound of that ball smacking the S**T outta someone. It made us tougher and encouraged teamwork as well as exercise.

I remember having a lot of fun playing dodgeball, I also remember some kids that were very good at it as well as some kids that were really bad at it. Even though I was in elementary school in the 80's, i NEVER remember anyone being forced to play it. If people were forced to play a game where they could potentially be hit by a rubber ball in the face at full speed I would agree that this is a bad thing. However, suggesting that we eliminate any sport where someone can potentially get hurt, lets go ahead and get rid of hockey as well.... I'm sure no one in Canada would have a problem with that.... right?

One researcher actually said that "the game is a tool of oppression and favors the strong and agile."

NO WAY? You mean the more athletic and strong kids are better at a sport that requires strength and agility? What a wonderful study! Where did you go to school you clown? I want to be a researcher on these projects. I mean, what sort of research needed to be done to come to this conclusion?

Once again Southpark has predicted the future and how absurd people in this life can be when they had an episode about almost precisely this topic when they featured an episode about "Sarcastiball" where it was impossible for anyone to get hurt or excluded because there were no points, no contact, and people just wore the same silly outfits and hugged one another the entire game.

While I certainly hope that most people will look at this "research" and roll their eyes and dismiss it, the fact that it even makes the news I think is a reflection of the times we live in now. I would like to research into whether or not these researchers were themselves the weaker kids when they were in school and this is their way of getting back at a system that hurt their feelings.

Lol. I agree I think it should be allowed. we played a game called "Dogs of war" This was done during the gym period at high school which was all boys. Think of a gym hall with some benches in the middle which you can't cross and a class of 30 split into 15 a side. Take 400 tennis balls and pelt the crap out of the other team. If you cheated you stood against a wall and the class would pelt you. Cheating wasn't advisable lol. It was banned in the end only because lots of windows were being broken and not because kids were scared of their safety. Kids today don't know how to live and are too protected.

i wanna play dogs of war now. Although i bet a nut shot could be quite painful... which is something you would just walk off as a kid.

People at it again! Solving non-existent problems :/

I hate people bringing things like this up. It really just makes you think about what they actually want to accomplish... Do they want to live in a neutral society where nobody does a thing and we all just sit alone in our houses not to offend people?

This is just stupid :(

i sometimes wonder if these busybodies always existed but we just never heard about it because for the most part they never actually accomplish anything.... we only now hear about it because of social media.

It's just like a rage-inducing feminist post about the weapons women "have to" carry to go jogging despite the fact that violence in nearly every category is down from 20-30 years ago.

that´s a damn good question.gif

I ask myself the same question.

I'm glad I don't live in a socialist hellhole like Canada. I say that now but it's probable only a matter of time until the US is just as bad and we are all governed by a fascist world government like the EU.

fortunately, this is very unlikely to ever be turned into any sort of legislation... it's just some SJW a-holes trying to make a name for themselves... IMO they have succeeded but for all the wrong reasons.

If people want to play it let them. Or do we have to stop everything 🤪

What is happening with some people in the world?

What is the point if your banning dodgeball for being “fool of oppression and favours the strong” doesn’t that mean you have to ban every sport Just dodge the ball or be a man they always say the more hits you take the stronger you become. When I was at school dodgeball was are main physical education lesson if it was raining when it was hot it was football ⚽️ or cross country If people want to stop everything there be no sports left to play 🤣

Next thing you know they are going to want to ban lawn darts... oh wait. When I first started playing dodgeball in elementary school we actually played it against a wall. It wasn't the two sides versus each other like you see in the movies and like they play in a gym. A row of kids stood against the wall outside the school and one or two people just threw the ball at them as hard as they could. Like you said, the sound of that kick ball hitting the wall or somebodys skin sticks with you for a long time. These days they use really soft balls I think. It is pretty pathetic! :P
