In the absence of proper education, food and health services the level of living of Tea Estate workers in Assam, India is quite low. The mortality rate of this community is very high.

After day long labourious work in the tea garden they try to get relief from pain by drinking liquor like drinks called "hadia"
One of the guys offered me the drink,he called it "shantipani"means peace water, probably he wanted to mean it a refreshing drink. By giving thanks and rejecting his offer I politely told him that regular drinking of this "peace water" may take you toward the eternal peace very soon.

Though I didn't like to share these pictures but this is the real and inside story of tea labourer, it can't be hide.
