Worried of how crisis in Cameroon is affecting kids

I have always watched news on TV about wars in other countries, rioting, violence in other places that kept such places from experiencing peace and quiet. I must admit it was always a pitiful sight to behold. Lifeless bodies lying around, the pool of blood covering them, families going through pain and hurt because of the loss of their lost ones etc. The very terrible effects of war and violence yet people still chose this path. I must confess, i thought i understood how the people i saw on TV in war zones felt but i was terribly wrong. Sometimes you can hardly understand how others truly feel until you go through what they have experienced and that is what my post today is all about.

My country Cameroon has been in a serious crisis for about 2years now. There id a fight going on against the present ruling regime. Many casualties have been recorded and many other devastating effects all because of man's quest for power. It has been terrible so far and i wish all these could just stop. We were not created to live like this; in fear, pain, hurt, tears and poverty.

What touched me most was the other day that i went to church for our prayer meeting and before we knew what was happening, we werr in the middle of an open cross fire between the military and the revolutionaries. Everyone was on the floor and the fright i saw on the faces of young kids that were there touched me very deeply. The look on their faces and the fear i saw in their eyes really got me angry at the whole thing around me. It made me realize just how the situation was really affecting not only the elderly ones but the children too. This is the kind of life that some people have chosen to expose young children to because of greed and quest for power.

Some children can't even go to school anymore because of the insecurity, people can hardly go to work and things become more expensive by each passing day, people killed everyday and kids exposed to killings and bloodshed. It is no surprise to dead men lying on the streets nowadays and to think that young children have to witness all this really terrifies me the most. The future is so uncertain as to when it will all end and we can have our peace again.

This crisis has really taken its toll on our country and we are sinking into poverty with each passing day. The days are really dark and we continue to pray and hope for a miracle. How did we really get here is the question that i can hardly answer. This was an issue that would have been resolved peacefully with no bloodshed when it started but no, they had to let it get to this point. Now look where we are right now, a point of war with the casualties being the poor civilians who are trying to lead simple lives..
May God help this nation.
