Simplicity of Heart Leads to Happier Life
Often, I saw people's relational status as "complicated" and I, too, ponder how complicated adults' worlds are.
We love. Then, we hate.
We want something but we can't get it.
Then we don't ask but we have expectation that our loved ones should do something for us.
We don't get it, we fret.
We work hard, but money come and money go.
Life is complicated until I notice the simplicity in children's world in terms of their approach towards life. Simplicity of heart.
They want something, they ask.
They need your love, they say it out loud.
They are happy, they laugh.
They are sad, they cry.
They feel kind, they help.
They want to show love, they show love.
They want to make your happy, they show it.
Never in their mind ever think about "people will take them for granted".
The other day,
while I was running errands, I thought of rewarding the boys so I bought for each of them a simple small book of stickers. Nothing fancy — just pages of repetitive stickers at a cheap price. When they saw the small stickers' book, they leaped in joy as though I bought them expensive big box of toys. So easily satisfied. So easily contended. How cool is that.
Then, my eldest son said he was going to do something to express his gratitude. He took sometimes on the drawing paper while insisting me not to go near him, as it supposed to be a surprise for me.
He drew this!
It was all the monsters on the stickers. That the drawing was a present for me to keep, it showed that he really liked the stickers I bought for him.

He told me I could post it up as a blog here so that was what I am doing now.
What I learned from the boys...
Is to be easily contended with life and to treasure every little gesture of love from people, not having fixed expectation of how people should treat you. I know the boys will really prefer McDonald's toys than this sticker book, but upon receiving the book, they were still as happy as a bubbling pot of porridge. Haha. Just saying.
Simplicity of heart indeed leads to a happier life.

Hey @iamjadeline I must say your son is very creative. I loved his drawings more than those stickers. I am also into creative field so I can feel that joy of doing some artistic curves.

Yes, children are less complicated in their mind, hence they are more easily happy. :-)
Isn't it wonderful that your boys can get such pleasure from simple things and what a beautiful thought to make you a gift from your gift to him! He's a good little artist too!
