Many people around my age, including myself, have always wanted to be in a romantic relationship, some even jump at the chance to have one. But have you ever wondered how being single can actually benefit you?

Being single doesn't mean that you're alone, it only means that you've learned to grow and thrive through yourself. I know that it can be hard at times, you may see different relationships around you start to blossom and grow and maybe even believe that it would be better to be in a relationship. But one thing I've learned is to never rush to find love, it's a mistake that many people make.
A relationship can be much more restricting than one may think, most of your time is given to your partner and you can find yourself having a hard time juggling between your work, studies, and relationship while trying to balance your new schedule. Trust me, I'm not shunning the idea of being in a relationship. There are many things that you learn while in a relationship. You learn to have patience and to be understanding with your partner. You also learn that you must give space for growth, and overall you can learn more from your partner and of yourself.
Being single gives breathing room to grow and learn about oneself, you learn how to care for yourself when you're in a sour mood and you gain self-confidence. You're given more time to focus on what you want to achieve as your end goal and are able to hang out with friends more often than not.

With time, I've learned that with a healthy relationship, one must learn more of themselves and how to take care of oneself first and foremost before helping others, and especially before starting a new relationship. Being single helps you towards that self-awareness and helps you learn how to be able to help yourself. Overall, being single is the greatest place to be for personal growth and to just truly learn more about yourself.
