Don't take it personally

in #life6 years ago (edited)

In many cases, our big problem is that we take everything personally. I used to do this a lot, and sometimes it still happens, but life offered me some lessons that opened-up my eyes.

Taking everything personally is like believing that everything revolves around you, and it doesn’t.

You’re not responsible for what happens in this world, and you’re not responsible for what happens with other people.

If someone changes their attitude towards you, analyze your relationship and the latest events and you’ll understand if it was or wasn’t your fault.

Also, when you hear mean words from someone, pay attention to the person telling those words. Here’s how to learn not to take things personally.

Realize that the impertinence of other people doesn’t have anything to do with you.

Impertinence and spite come from inner frustrations and personal problems.
Ask yourself if that mean comment or weird behavior doesn’t mean something else.

For example, if someone doesn’t smile or doesn’t say hello, maybe they’re sad or shy.

Receive criticism and comments in a constructive way. Maybe there’s some truth behind them, maybe there’s something you can learn from them.

Not everybody wants to harm you, so many words are in your favor.
Look at the situation from another perspective.

Look from the outside, think like you’re somebody else and you’re completely objective.

Accept the fact that you can’t make everyone happy and not everybody will like you. The same way that you don’t like everybody. That’s life.

Don’t forget that mistakes don’t define you as a person, and neither do ugly comments coming from other people.

Be aware of the fact that your value only depends on you, not on what other people say or think about you.

Conclusion: focus on yourself, not on what other people say. Make sure that, in every situation, you do the best you can, and when you will receive observations, you’ll not that they’re meant to help you and make you understand what you did incorrectly and how to make it right the next time.

This is also valid on Steemit. Don't take it personally, it's all about the money.

Sort:

sour grapes?

I like lemons

Really?
Why am I not surprised?

srry, I lied :))

But is it really all about the money? Sure monetized incentives keep some people coming back but for others it is all about having a creative outlet. I stay here because this is a revolutionary place not because I need the $2 I make off a post.

0.01% people like you

If these insults come from drunk people at the street, than it can be quite scary. :(

We should never take personally. I definitely second your statement.

this is great investing sir and thanks for sharing this, this is something new to me.

yeeah it’s all about the money, who does not need the money he needs psychater

When someone takes every little thing to heart, one will end of hurting ones self and losing trust in others. Thanks for this @jwolf
