ANOTHER DAY INDOORS, GOT PRICES FOR MY HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS, GOT SOME SAVING TO DO.

in #life5 years ago

Another day indoors, not got much done today as waiting for a sales man to arrive. I am after prices to get French Doors fitted, i also wanted a Price for a Bow window and 2 upstairs windows.

I have my heart set on French Doors in my living room as they will open up into our back garden that never gets used. They would be brilliant to open so the dogs can run in and out, that's when the weather warms up.

I spend most of my life indoors, having these doors means i can sit out with the dogs plus opening the back garden means i will have more room to grow my plants, More room means more fun for me.

I hate having to get these men in as they can be annoying and stay around for hours hoping for a sale. We warned him when he came in that all we wanted was prices with no pressure. They sent us a trainee, we were his 2nd house without anyone supervising him. He was easy to deal with. When he is finished the usual thing to happen is he phones his boss who then tries to get a sale by giving us special offers. We were not going to say yes. If the boss can reduce the price why can't they give us the best offer first.

PRICES

Bow window + 2 upstairs windows £4,400.00
French doors + 2 upstairs windows £4,300.00
2 Upstairs windows £1,900.00

What i am after

He has left now leaving the prices with us. I will get a few more quotes before i decide. I want the job done with a good price.

That's 1 quote down now got to look for a few other company's. Its now time for Bingo so hopefully i can win a little to put towards it. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thank you son-of-satire

With that extra area, you will be able to really increase the size of your garden.

Its what i need, fingers crossed :)

As an experiment, unless you already have,
Get a couple of cheapest 2/3 gallon buckets.
Drill/cut/make a couple of drainage holes in the bottom.
3/4 fill with potting mix from your gardening supplier
Put 3 - 4 Gladioli bulbs in, well spaced from each other, and the sides.
Fill with potting mix, and press down well.
Balance on a couple of bricks, so there is good drainage.
Here, allow 3 months from planting to flowering.
It will fill in the back yard until you have good access and be moveable while you are building.

I am going to give this a go once i get more garden room. Thank you :)

If you do the buckets as soon as the season will allow, then put around the back, you will only need to water them if it doesn't rain.
How nice would it be to pull the curtains on the new windows, and have flowers waiting for you?
Do the same with Dahlias, they will flower longer.

That is very true . I'll have to find a few big buckets :)

you only need the cheapest one you can get, 10-litre paint buckets are terrific,
the slave might be able to 'score' a couple from the building sites.

I've asked hubby, there's nothing at the site i could use. I will have to scour the internet to see where i could get a couple :)
