Extortion by the airlines

There seems to be that the airlines are escalating their ploys to pinch the traveler of their funds. And they are doing it incrementally to not upset their clients, yet it has become more blatant as time passes.

One example is most seen in the short interims flights. A trip less than two hours does not merit an upgrade to business or first class, yet without that triple expenditure in cost, you can not even get a free glass of water.

I was astonished that the airline now charges for water, which is sold in bottles now... larger ones at that. They know you can not bring it onboard easily for yourself anymore, so they have that opportunity to extort larger sums for their flights. As an example the man next to me asked for water, the flight attendant asked for a credit card. Astonished the man asked for the price at which the attendant exclaimed it was 3.75. Logical he again asked is that pound or euro (flying from France to the UK). The answer was pound sterling... 3.75 of those is quite a large sum for more water than you need or can drink before going through the next security check where they confiscate it so you again need to purchase more.

Water is vital

We need the water as the pressure dehydrates you and increases the feeling or severity of jet lag. A swallow of water rods the inner ear pressure during decent. And it alleviates several other issues of the dry air in the cabin.

But it’s not just water

There are so many of these extortions escalating in travel that it boggles the mind. That they have keyed in on a vital point, makes it seem even purposefully cruel.

Wait there’s more

Then they ask everyone to empty their pockets of any spare change for “their” charity of choice. After the debacle of the Haitian Relief, Red Cross and other such “charitable” ventures (proven to have less than 10% if collected funds go to the stated clause).

So let me get this straight, they gain access to your bank or credit card accounts, then the seek to extort whatever cash or coin you have.

Even flying at higher classes costing thrice the price

The service is less than substantiated. They offer a premium food service, which is noticeably lacking in quality, quantity, variety if they even have the selection you made left. This has deteriorated at thrice the speed over the past few years as well.

Alas they take us

Yes they extort us of our funds, reduce service and of course remove the fun out of travel. But the greatest thing that they take us for, is being suckers.
