Who is talking to himself?

I noticed that some people who have been away from home for a long time or in a foreign country, where they have no one to talk to, can talk to themselves. Say something out loud, either speech or just thinking. I myself can sometimes speak in the ear, especially when talking about something. But as far as I know, there is still an opinion that this is a sign of mental disorder when people speak out loud without having an interlocutor. If you meet such a person on the street, then most likely you will bypass him and find it dangerous. Yes, and these people look strange. They can not only surprise us, but also irritate us. Why, if there is nothing wrong with this. Most likely this is due to the fact that we have established a clear idea that the conversation should take place between two or even more persons. Of course you can say a monologue, but if you're talking to someone, but no one, you'll agree - it's strange, at least it looks.
Why did I get such an idea? I noticed that religious people constantly speak to themselves, who turn to God as their non-existent interlocutor.
