Kun magguna ka, kuhaa gyud ang gamot kay kun dili, motubo ra dayon ug balik ang sagbot.

The statement above means that if you are going to remove the weeds from your lawn, garden or wherever you do not want it growing, be sure to remove its roots because if not, the weeds will grow very soon.

When I hear news about the war on drugs of the Philippines' current administration, I always make an analogy of the weeds and drugs. Weeds are bad to farmers so as drugs to the nation.

If weeds are plenty in your field or garden, it will take all the soil's nutrients that is essential for the growth of your plants. Thus, making your plants undernourished. That is why before giving fertilizers to plants, farmers take out weeds first so its the plants who will receive the nutrients.

Same goes with drugs. If drugs is widespread in a country, then it will hinder its progress. Drug addicts become violent and fearless as a result, crimes like rape murder and the likes will be committed. Because they need money to pay for their drug addiction, they commit crimes like robbery and theft. This makes the country not conducive for living. Investors will be afraid to invest. Tourists will be afraid to visit. So, very little will be injected to our economy.

I am one of the 16 million plus who voted for Duterte. I did not vote for him because of his promise to end the drug problems of the Philippines in 3 to 6 months. If that only was his promise then I would not have voted for him. Why? It cannot be denied that drugs is a very hard issue to combat against. It has rooted in the Philippines for the past 10 years at least and some Filipinos are OK with the proliferation of drugs but hate it when pushers are getting killed. But on the other hand, I understand why they are angry. I hate drugs very much and I hate the spate of killings in our country. Why small scale pushers or street level pushers only are getting killed? Are the druglords untouchable? If a druglord also gets killed then that time, the war on drugs in the Philippines will be believable.

I am a son of a farmer but I am not ashamed to admit it. In fact, I am very proud of my parents because they were able to send us to school. We are 8 in the family and 6 of us has degrees now. The other 2 did not finish their studies because of their personal decision.
