That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is. Most people love you for who you pretend to be. To keep their love, you keep pretending - performing. You get to love your pretence. It's true, we're locked in an image, an act - and the sad thing is, people get so used to their image, they grow attached to their masks. They love their chains. They forget all about who they really are. And if you try to remind them, they hate you for it, they feel like you're trying to steal their most precious possession. -- Jim Morrison

Quote of the day

Reflection on the quote of the day

The world is messed up, pretenders everywhere. It's hard for most people to find their identity because they just want to blend with their environment, move with the tides of life according to their society. They neglect their inner voice crying, begging and pleading to manifest.

  • Parents often determine what their child will be from conception before birth, and when such child is born he lives in the prison of their thoughts. This is made worse by parents who had failed in their own quests, ambition or aspiration. They force their ambition on their wards, doing everything possible scolding, enforcing and punishing the wards for a little failure on the path. They made the children believe that's where their success is, and that's how to bring joy and happiness to them as their parents.

The questions most ask never ask the children is "Who or what do you want to be?" and they don't give the children the opportunity to find themselves. Express their own innate potentials and manifest the greatness within.

  • The society/peer pressure is another thing to worry about, for children struggling to find themselves, they are often caught up with the societal problem and demands. The society paints certain professions, people or things in a great light while the others are neglected. Since the others are often unrecognized and appreciated the children struggles to fit in, they just want to do everything possible to get there. In the end, the lose themselves to the pretense world.

The peer in line with the society also seeks to hold control over a child. The child wants to be a part of the group, seeks validation from his peers but has to fulfill some obligations, be influenced by his peers definition of life. He compromises just to feel among, to be accepted and in end he lost himself.

  • In the end, it's up to YOU. Yes, it's up to you to manifest and fulfill your dreams. Stop living the life of pretense just to make some people happy. You can blame parents, the society and everything you want but whatever influence they had, you have the liberty to choose now. Still you continued to live in the shadows, come on into the LIGHT.

MANIFEST YOUR POTENTIAL!

SHINE !!! 🔆

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence. -- Frederick Douglass

Great motivation for the morning; it's always neccessary to stay true to ourselves so we wouldn't have the need to hide in our shadows; well done bro 💝

Being true to ourselves is the only path through which we can live our dreams.
Thanks sis. 💟💟

Love your post, @lightoj So introspective and true.

I think also society is largely narcissistic and lacking empathy/responsibility. It's not geared to 'look at itself' but to see a false projection of what it is to be a productive member of this society.

Of course, no human being thrives in such a box of falsehood and those that question or venture outside of these imaginary lines are met with push back. It really does, by it's very nature, create a false sense of self. Then you have to ask what it means to be 'human' and what effect does repression of true self truly have? When we see so much chaos, depression, violence going on in the world? Those that manage to break free from this or have such an urgency to follow their passion must have a strong inner self as to not succumb to defeat in the face of societal rejection/pushback. Not for the faint of heart.

And yet....ironically....we are inspired most by those that do.

must have a strong inner self as to not succumb to defeat in the face of societal rejection/pushback. Not for the faint of heart.

I love your choice of words here. It's not for the weak hearts, they are mostly if not wholy consumed already. It's for those willing to change their environment and take a stand. For those who are ready to battle the society, fighting off all rejection and clearing the path of greatness for others to clearly see there's a way out.

So question.....Does one come into the world this way already or is it a choice? What makes the heart stronger?

Does one come into the world this way already or is it a choice?
I think it's a choice. A child comes into the world blank and pure, everything he is or transforms to be, comes from the influence of the surroundings.

What makes the heart stronger? Love, positivity and open-mind to change.

What do you think?

I ask out of speculation as I often ask these questions. I would think to a large degree, what you have answered is true but there has to be more to that in that often times a child growing up in a very negative environment somehow rises about that, whereas others growing up in the same environment might choose to mirror that out into the world.

I do think it has to do with self awareness and perhaps something more in the 'connection' to the heart or something bigger.

Ah

Love, positivity and open-mind to change.

Perhaps the ability to keep the ego in check/balance as to continuously grow/learn through the heart

Thank you, @lightoj

Have a beautiful day

If more were willing to step out and stand up and use their ingenuity and inspirations for ALL , what we could accomplish! Unfortunately, self motivation these days is often driven by desires of personal gain only.

Hard to reply in a few words. I went a couple directions when reading this but our kids came to mind, naturally. We raised two completely different people.

We have a daughter, 5 yrs older than our son. They have nothing in common. Nothing but us parents.

Coming from the same upbringing you would imagine some similarities. Nope. But, I do see them both in their world of pretense. Because I know them, not their pretend selves.

Our daughter bends over backwards to stand out and blend in at the same time. I see that as a struggle! . The son does everything not to conform. And they both strugge to find a comfort zone. I quit trying to influence forever ago.

What is really scary is watching the world influence our grandchildren. I am truly astounded at the level of influence these days. Way, way too much exposure for childen.

Making your own place in life doesn't always mean a big splash or the brightest light,. You can be yourself without a lot of attention. (which is a preferable for some), you can be yourself, make a difference, contribute with just a little ripple of YOU.

You need to go with the flowsometimes but go in your own style

So even if you aren't who everyone sees you as
