Put together this set of pallets to collect and distribute close to a zone 1 garden.

I really need a real compost. I'm using a silly tumbler, and one of those black tubs. Useless and expensive pieces of junk that create sub par compost!

I'm trying to decide if I want to do the standard three bin system with pallets, or a couple shallow pits, and instead of turning with a pitch fork, use my small tiller attachment for my weed eater.

Found this guy that did it, but no pit. I think the wife won't let me scatter unfinished compost like him, at least not so close to the house where I want to be doing my composting. I'm hoping the pit keeps it a little more contained. Might still use pallet walls though, to help pile high.

Yeah just went for the pallet walls to create a nice pile, I like the wire fence and tiller method there. I can be a bit lazy so I like that method I could plug in my electric tiller to my trailer and go to town.

I saw an interesting video the other day about a compost pile with tubing wound through it for water to flow through that would get heated to a very high temp from the activity in the pile... naturally hot water. Ever hear of that practice? Or is that how you shower every time?

I have heard of the practice and would like to combine that with a rocket stove thermal syphon system. If it works correctly I won't need any electricity to drive the hot water generation.

I wonder if copper coil would be bad for the compost...copper having a natural antimicrobial effect and all...

If you built it around a coil though, just pulling it out would do a lot to toss the pile. And using it as a feeder for rocket syphon would improve the efficiency on the syphon.

I was thinking about trying just a standard garden hose to mate up with the copper coil of the rocket stove. I'll draw something up soon and do a video about it.
