Welcome to North Carolina... Enjoy the Crazy!
So, on the same day, two stories broke about religious fanatics, based in North Carolina. Although their religious views are not compatible in every aspect, they both agree that homosexual people are as bad, evil and devilish as it gets. Both believe that their god will punish LGBTQ folks for their sins.
The first guy (the devilishy fashionable fellow above) is a one time public office seeker named Napier Fuller. Currently, he is on trial for harassing college professors at UNC Chapel Hill because he refused to quit harassing faculty and students, even after a cease and desist order was sanctioned against him, over what he called “sexual paganism”.

The next religious zealot you may have heard of before. His name is Franklin Grahm, son of the famous evangelist, Billy Graham. He too thinks gay people are evil.
Graham's target today was Jimmy Carter, who had recently given his support for gay marriage. This rankled the fanatical Graham, getting him frothy with his fervor over the evilness of gay marriage, gay people and those who support gays, even if they aren't gay themselves. Apparently, Graham thinks they can, should and will all go to H-E-double hockey sticks.

But here's the point I'd like to make. Many would consider the first guy, Napier Fuller, a bit crazy. Not just because he likes to wear witch hats (well, maybe a little because of that), but because he doesn't seem legit. He doesn't have a huge following or a famous name and religious pedigree like Graham does. Graham may get a little more respect and credibility, simply because he basks in the reflected glory of his famous father.
But, I think we can take some wisdom from Mark Twain in deciding that if one is nuts, so too is the other:
The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also. ~ Mark Twain
