Singularity Beers!
It's Black Hole week! That's right, this week they managed to get the first ever recorded image of a Black Hole! It's incredible!
To celebrate this I have two Black Holes of my own. Beers so black and strong that nothing can escape their grasp. It's not without a little fear I approach these mighty beers with ABV's in the double figures.
And one of them is out of date!
Without further ado, let us go where no man has gone before!
Brewed based on an old Scottish recipe before being walloped into whiskey barrels for three months. Mmm. Yum!
Although 12.3%!? What in the blazes is that all about? I feel drunk just by holding the bottle? I mean, crikey. Is tonight going to be the night that the third boom is conceived? This is insane!
I can feel the brutal gravity of this one pulling me right in...
This thing pours like coal tar. Look at it, I am half expecting to find a dinosaur trapped in it! Awesome Bananas!
Oh flip! This stuff is great. I forgot to mention the whisky! It's hoaching with whisky flavour. In fact drinking this is like riding a wild black stallion made entirely of whisky through a dark and brooding wood!!
Dark chocolate, coffee, caramel and malt. Followed by that rampant whisky hit. What's not to like!? 9/10 booms!!
Cor blimey. Can the out of date, expensive Irish whiskey barrel aged beer come close to this?
It's out of date!!! But who cares, it's only a couple of weeks and it's beer for crying out loud.
This was the bargain I spoke of yesterday. It normally sells for 12-13 quid and I got it for a fiver!! Mohowhahaaar!!
Our Gaelic cousins from the Emerald Isle are responsible for this one. Doesn't mean it will be shit though. This one also is aged for three months in Whiskey barrels. Teeling whiskey, if that means anything to you.

This one has a fine tan head to it in fact it just keeps frothing up long after I finished pouring. It smells magnificent. Let's get to it!
Wow, beautiful. It has a vanilla creaminess to it. The whisky is subtle and the beer is a gentle malty, chocolate and vanilla delight. It's ridiculously smooth considering how strong it is.
You may note my restraint in the second video. That's because after the first beer I felt pure pished and kept fucking up the video. I had to have a severe word with myself!
Anyway, this beer was also magnificent and a bargain too, 9/10 booms also!!
What a weekend! Truly it is the weekend of black holes as I can feel the gravity of that first one pulling me back in for a second bottle, say a prayer for me!

12.3%...!? Did not even know those kind excisted. Attackin ye like a doberman, but in a nice way? Hm, still tryin to wrap my brain around that one, hahaha.
Here's an Affligem Tripel for a starter, 9%, refermantation on the bottle. Citrus fruit, light sweet, sparkly, tender bitterness after.
Wonder if this one would be put in a cellar for years if it would ripe even more. (Beer that goes bad, such nonsense!) Sadly this one did not make it to the cellar though.

Haha, I wonder if many make it to a cellar for ripening, I suspect not. Dash though, that one you have sounds nice. I am on the second of the first one and it is brutally strong!

Nope, no beer will make it to the cellar. They will be already drunken on the way down. "What the heck am I doing in the cellar with an empty bottle in my hand? Hm, that's a shame, let me go back up to get me a refill..." It simply just wouldnt work.
The Affligem Tripel I can absolutely recommend. It is refreshing, wend down the hatch way too easy, can imagine this one being a great one for a warm summers eve. But it was excellent now also.
Moved on to Duke Jean Character {NL: Hertog Jan Karakter} Ruby red bitter sweet, like a symphony. :-)

Special brews are way more interesting to enjoy than say pilsners. Never had that 'click' with wine. So many fine beers, so little time.
Wine drinkers are way more patient, I guess. While special brew lovers are more like 'in the moment' people. =D

I do love a good red wine but I do love a good beer better. I think I have a beer aged in wine barrels for next week but track record of those kind does not bode well!!

Love the black hole links, and those beers do look superb! Most entertaining these beer vids I must say.
You want to be careful drinking over-priced beer, even if you do get it on sale... next thing you know you'll find you've grown a top knot and moved to Shoreditch.
And there's no way back from there.
The thing is though, do you want to come back from there once you have gone over!!
Hehe, I do like the vids. The beers this week were excellent. Fortunately I wont be getting ridiculously expensive ones all the time! Now and then is nice though!

No dancing, but more like a brave heart in the garden. Should be called jackpot beers because you got lucky this weekend. Maybe I would go back and buy the other out of date beers at that price if any are left. Have a good weekend and hope you aren't taking the father in law out tomorrow.
