I don't know enough as a 2-month newbie to understand all this, but I know enough to know it may be the most important post ever.
Thanks to @JackMiller for telling me about this thread that I never knew existed written by Ned with a multitude of important comments about the future of Steem, Steemit, SBD, bid (paid upvoting) bots, etc., etc.
IMHO, this is an essential thread for all newbies (like myself) to at least try to wrap their heads around:

If we can get an alternative that truly rewards Steem/SBD (or an alternative) for QUALITY and based on community reputation rather than longevity and computer mining skills, we might REALLY have a sustainable version of the current platform!
Not sure why Ned doesn't just work to fix this one, rather than powering down and building a mirror site (or a slew of them) but...
Anyway, please do comment and resteem. This is THE conversation we all (who truly care about the future of the Steemit CONCEPT) need to be having. It's transitioning from a pyramid to republic....seriously. It's that important!
My big question (and I've posted a few comments now on the original thread) is...WHY DID THE CONVERSATION JUST END TWO MONTHS AGO?? That thread should be humming along with dozens of new comments every day!
All those guys care about is making money. When Dan left, the soul of Steemit went with him. I hope he creates something on the EOS blockchain that will replace Steemit!

Well yes and no, "vocal" but all the issues are in fact leftovers of Dans pyramid scheme that he literally set up for him and his "klan".

Dan is a brain, but Dan is looking after his $ when he sets things up for "his klan".

Yes, he was. He saw how the platform was being misused and got out. Dan is an anarcho-capitalist... not a big fan of power structures.
