I went to India recently and in India lots of things happen.

This happened in Hyderabad city. There was an expensive car parked almost in the middle of the road. An ambulance with its weak siren was trying to get past the car but couldn’t. You could hardly hear ambulance siren in India amidst mindless honking of horn by people. I don’t know why they do it but they horn and I stupidly and subconsciously do the same when I drive in India. Some nutters keep honking even at traffic lights when its red.

Anyway coming back to the incident, the ambulance driver asked the gentleman to move his car so that he can get through. The gentleman was on the phone, kept talking and when he finished he started arguing with the ambulance driver for asking him to move the car. This lasted for over 5 minutes which could be potentially life threatening for the patient. Finally he moved the car when he was told off by several other people after taking his time.

The bastard is driving an expensive car, looked educated and would not move his car as the driver told him to due to his fucking ego and these kind of people are menace to the society. He didn’t think or care about the patient or the gravity of situation. The mindset of these fuckers is they feel superior as they have money and can do whatever they like. This has to change.

This is not a generalisation as many others are giving way to the ambulances these days and it is getting better in India. I sincerely feel that the siren volume must be loud and scary as like in western countries.

What i don’t understand is there is not even a single TV channel broadcasting public awareness programmes and there are thousands if channels. Obviously they don’t care about public or the quality of life and are more interested in broadcasting completely useless and fake news repeatedly to increase their TRPs.

God save us.

Have a nice weekend and please excuse my rant.

Hi brother @moghul this is something which is very serious issue in India. People don't care Unless they are stuck in the same situation.
I have seen many cases where people are more in hurry than ambulance. They must understand that nothing is more important that LIFE at all. So if ambulance is behind ua we must give side to it.
Not sure of Hyderabad but in Delhi things are improving and people usually give the way when hear or see the ambulance and I have witnessed many cases like this. But this is not something which only City should learn. Whole country need to be aware about it and learn it.

Right brother. I think govt should take it seriously but unfortunately politicians are only worried about their vote bank.

That sounds just appalling.

Trumped up sense of status taking to extremes.

The worst it gets in the UK is that rich people park on pavements etc and take fines, but I've never heard of anyone blocking an ambulance - that would make headline news and involve a mass social media shaming over here.

It is appalling.
The only thing I heard from amb crew was when a guy used F word when the ambulance was blocking his driveway and they were trying to resuscitate a child. I am not sure if this made the news
