The Mind Is The Most Powerful Tool (Pt. 1)
Your mind wields immense power.
Comparing the mind to the most complex invention of Man; the computer.
The capabilities of the computer is outstanding; it can hold thousands upon thousands of media files which includes, photos, songs, full length videos, PDF files, etc Nowadays all these can be stored in something the size a pen. Amazing, right? In comparison to the computer your mind can execute approximately ten quadrillion activities in a second without your conscious knowledge.
One question you should ask yourself right now is; What's making your blood run through your blood vessels with the ideal quantity of pressure to sustain life? What is making your heart pump blood? Are you consciously instructing your heart to pump blood? The answer is a big NO. What's maintaining your anatomical temperature to the ideal degree for the sustainable of your life? What's performing the six trillion activities to your sixty trillion cells in every second in time?
It's nothing but the subconscious mind. This makes the core of your personalit. Of all the amazing things your subconscious mind can do, it has one big limitation. This limitation could attract good things to you or create serious health challenges for you. What is this limitation? It can't tell the difference between reality and thoughts. It sounds so ridiculous, right? Let me show you. What happens when you have a terrible dream something like a nightmare or even worse? You woke up scared, your heart beating fast, your sweating profusely. The dream happened in your mind, you weren't in any form of hazard, but your mind was oblivious to that fact. You psychologically reacted, like the dream was an actual happening.
A study was conducted, in which the doctor connected the body of a skier to a device that measured the athletes muscle fibres. The athlete was asked to think of skiing down a hill, without making the muscles operational. The mere thought of skiing made the same muscle that would have been operational if he was actually skiing, to fire off like he was in the process of skiing down a hill.
This has been demonstrated a couple of times using the placebo experiment. Two groups; A and B, suffering from a particular illness were treatment. Group A gets prescribed a pharmaceutical FDA approved drug for the treatment of the said illness while group B got sugar pills, they took it because they thought it was the real deal. Both groups get cured. In fact the New England Journal of Medicine published a study involving two groups, suffering from degenerative knee disorder. Surgery was performed on the knee of members of group A to relieve the symptoms of the disorder. Group B with the permission of their families had a fake surgery. A placebo surgery with just three incisions made on the knee cap. No real surgery was performed on their knees. Both groups reported that the surgery was a success. Researchers are saying that one-third of all medical treatment, surgery inclusive is as a result of the believe that the treatment is going to be effective; the placebo effect.

This is a lovely update @onyemacourge. The mind is a very powerful tool in every sense. It was also a shocking revelation for me when i unravelled the effect of the placebo experiment in one of my earlier researches. But one exceptional gift we posses is the ability to condition our mind over time; lets make the best of that privilege.
Interesting post but I do not believe a fake surgery can be called a success if nothing is done. A damaged knee will stay damaged and pain will not be gone plus the knee will not get better.
So with this example I intend to believe these doctors love to operate for fun, telling people they are ill and this is not the case at all.
Btw: there are plenty of people who do not have any faith in a surgery... does that mean if the surgery did work it also did not work? It should work the other way round as well but it never does. So the only thing we know for sure (and this is proved) that these kind of tests are done in such a way to confirm what the scientist likes to hear.
And if it comes to "it can't tell the difference between reality and thoughts" neither can a computer.
I would love to know the opinion of the placebo patients after some time.
I get your point @wakeupkitty. But that doesnt rule out the fact that the placebo effect is real. Nevertheless, the extent to which the placebo effect affects one depends majorly on how he/she has conditioned his mind, other factors then take turns.
