The sight of the ambulance reaching the helipad was greeted by cheers, according to AP.

An ambulance with flashing lights left the site of a flooded cave in northern Thailand where a youth soccer team has been trapped for two weeks, just hours after the second phase of a rescue operation was launched.

The ambulance drove toward a helipad, where a helicopter was seen taking off shortly after to the cheers of the crowd below. The same process was used Sunday for at least one of the four boys rescued in the first attempt at getting the 12 boys and their coach out of the underground complex.Ambulance seen waiting near the rescue operation site. The second rescue operation would aim to extract another four members of the remaining nine members of the soccer team and their coach, who remain trapped 3.2km inside the cave complex.

Rescue mission chief Narongsak Osottanakorn, the former governor of the Chiang Rai province, would not say how many more of the trapped team would come out on Monday.

A huge support team of up to 90 people are expected to be involved in supporting today's second rescue operation.

Ambulances and a helicopter have been seen buzzing around in the vicinity of the cave complex, ready to transport the rescued boys to a hospital in nearby Chiang Rai.rescue.jpg
