TIME

We usually measure time with clocks, but time is only a mathematical parameter of change. We experience the changes that occur in the present moment through the linear model of past-present-future time, which is a construction of the mind. Our temporal way of life in linear time is subjective, in the sense that in the physical universe the linear time, in which changes occur, does not exist. Albert Einstein was aware of this fact.

He said: "There is something essential about the present moment that is outside the realm of science. We who believe in physics know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion".

The present moment is not really time, in the sense that it is not measured by clocks. The clocks run in the present and measure the numerical order and duration of changes. From this point of view, the moment
present is eternity itself. Eternity is not infinitely backward in the past and it is not infinitely advanced in the future, eternity is now.

Time is just the numerical order of our movement in space, and I'll give you a brief example. In the Interstellar Movie when the crew of the ship descend to the planet Miller to see if it was habitable, time on this planet was much slower than on Earth. In other words, these crew members were on the planet Miller for 15 minutes and during that time on Earth they had spent 37 years in the same present. So we have that time is the numerical order of aging. The speed of aging is slower for the crewmen who descended to the planet Miller than for the people on planet Earth. Time is not a physical dimension in which clocks are executed. The fact is that clocks are executed in the space where they are always now, so the present moment is a physical property of space itself. Certainly, the egg was hatched after the hen, but both were hatched in the present moment. Then and before they only make sense as a numerical order of the events that are executed in the present moment.

Understanding time in this way gives a more appropriate meaning. It opens new frontiers in our understanding of what the Universe is and what the human being's role in the universe is. The Universe exists in the present moment which is eternity itself. The human mind, which understands only the quantitative properties of things, can understand this concept, but eternity itself cannot be fully grasped on the rational level. Eternity is not only a quantity, but also a quality that we can experience only by surpassing the linear time of the past-present-future, thus achieving direct experience of the Universe.

Direct experience is necessary to develop a more conscious and sustainable way of life, where life is first and benefit becomes secondary.
