THE GIFT OF PEPPERS! - HOW DID YOU KNOW?

in #life6 years ago

Today was a very special day!

Why? Because of peppers! I enjoyed some time over at @mericanhomestead earlier helping clean up some downed trees with some others like @shalomacres, and not only did I get a great lunch out of the deal, I got some amazing peppers!

CHECK THESE OUT!

First off, @mericanhomestead let me know that they had amazing & hot purple peppers growing in the garden, and that I was free to enjoy some and take some home. In case you didn't know, I'm a purple pepper eater! I've never grown any like this before, but just check out that color. Plus, like many other peppers, they ripen to red.

Just next to them were some very interesting little, yellow, round peppers. I've encountered different kinds of "bird's eye" or Chiltepin peppers before, but they always transitioned from green to red, and not to yellow. What interesting little peppers, and what striking plants!

They really are a cool looking pepper. I like adding just a couple of these to jars of pickles or other things I make to turn up the spice a little. I can't wait to save some seeds and grow my own next year! Hopefully.

Then, once Monster Truck and I were done with our helping out for the day, @hansjurgen offered me a gift. He actually uprooted an entire mature Cayenne pepper plant for me! How cool is that? Unlike some of the super-hot peppers that I'm saving and drying by cutting them in half, these peppers can be dried whole, and they look lovely hanging dried in the kitchen awaiting their turn to be used. All in all, it was a wonderful day so far full of amazing blessings!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Until next time…

It's amazing how many different kind of peppers there are in this world! Do you think you'll be able to try them all in your lifetime?

I also stopped by just in case you didn't notice that I invited you to take a challenge I started. 5 questions asking about your experiences here. If you are so inclined it's on my blog. No pressure! Thanks! :)

Thanks, because I hadn't noticed. Also, no, I don't think I'll ever be able to try them all.

I love all the photos of Pepper! I keep intending to take a few of my dried peppers but keep putting it off - lazy I know....

Lazy? That won't help.

With all the stuff you have going on you will have to start a mezzanine floor soon to fit it all in.

LOL - I have no idea what I'm up to sometimes!

You are having fun, showing and teaching the next generation what to do to be good citizens.
What else is there to do?
The kids will be able to tell their kids what "Grand Pepper" got up to and steemit will back them up.
Your Dad can fudge what he did and get away with it as there is no permanent records,
Hard luck, you can't

A friend with seed is a friend indeed!!. I'm happy you enjoyed your day today helping @mericanhomstead. Also thanks to @hansjurgen for the gift, we appreciate.

Yeah, it was fun and productive! I like a job well done.

I'm really interested in those purple peppers, what is their name so that I can track down some seeds?!

If you are stateside I could send you some.

I appreciate the offer, that's really cool of you, but we're in Spain.

Oh, but my mother is stateside!

Purple peppers how awesome is that? Can I have some would be great for next year.

@mericanhomestead should know... they were in his garden.
I know that there is a nice Purple Cayenne pepper, not sure if these are them though.

Finally... living up to the name 😆

Finally? LOL!

Heh, hadn’t seen u post abt peppers in a while. U probably have tho ~

Yes... a one-eyed one-horned flying purple pepper eater!

My garden has been in fits and starts this year. My mom had an accident right after I planted the spring Garden. I ended up taking care of her in California for 2 months, and then here at home for 6 weeks. So then I came back home and ripped that whole garden out because it was grown to weeds, and planting a summer garden. Harvested a lot of squash, and Okra, and a few southern peas. Morning Glory went crazy in the peppers, and eggplant, so I mowed that down, and put in some peppers and eggplant in pots. Those are doing great! Then came the squash bug infestation from somewhere hot! Killed every pumpkin, and squash! Now, I am fixing to put in a winter garden! NEVER NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Those purple peppers look really interesting. I haven't seen them before, but now I will look for them as purple is my favourite colour. Where are they on the heat scale?

Hi @cecicastor - if you like purple ones you could also go for twilight type as they produce multi coloured chili’s and are medium hot. Red, yellow green purple all on the same bush!

Thanks! I will try those! I probably can start those in a pot anytime, right?

Yes pretty much all year round unless it’s gets very chilly around your area ( no pun intended 😂)
