Some thoughts about the new Apple product line-up
iPhone
The new iPhones are out… Well, beautiful and technically top. But they get bigger and bigger. Since I don’t carry handbags I need one that fits into a pocket please. As long as there is no foldable iPhone there should be one in a smaller size too like 5S/SE. I know, the bigger the screen the more apps will be sold and so on. But it would have been nice to have an SE-like one with a new extended screen.
Apple Watch
Very beautiful and innovative in my eyes. I simply like it - it's worth to check it out. Especially nice that we can use the ‘old’ wrist bands with the new model. And a really good idea to offer always 2 versions - a WiFi and a Wifi+Cellular one. Too view carrier offer support for the Apple Watch and if they do so it’s an unbelievable expensive add-on. So skip it as long as your carrier tries to rip you off. If you are out and doing sports where you can’t carry your iPhone, simply don’t do phone calls and have a break.
Time Capsule
Unfortunately all these network components are discontinued. That means with the next upgrade at home you will have a modem, router and an extra hard drive. In my eyes two components have been already enough. Well it’s ok, you could take a WiFi-hard-drive and place it somewhere where you have power supply. OK, what was always a big disadvantage of the Time Capsule is that it doesn’t support ‘real’ VPN. Anyway all these network devices simply look so much better than network stuff from any other company. So probably I’ll miss it one day.
iPad
Well - the iPad mini will be discontinued too. And that’s hard for me because I rally love it. It has the perfect size to keep it in one hand and carry it on every weekend trip. An iPad Pro is nice for work or at home - you should have one - but an iPad mini is simply so convenient. And even the iPhone XS Max is much smaller than an iPad mini - so Apple really could bring an update with a faster CPU and GPU. I’ll keep mine as long as possible but it’s pretty slow already.
OK - that have been some of my thoughts about Apple products coming to my mind during the iPhone/Watch presentation yesterday…

Well, there must be a reason why so many people buy a Samsung... I had one too - but it was at the very beginning of the smartphone era. With Android you have more possibilities but more responsibility about your security too. But since we are clever - no problem 😬 And just in case you get a free iPhone without switching - just pass it to me 😅
