Please Help Kitty With Chin Acne @senseicat

in #life6 years ago

I took a side picture of our kitties and as you can see the top one has a black chin. We have taken him into the vet twice already for this condition in the past couple of months and was told that he developed an allergy to plastic food and water bowls and to replace them to ceramic or stainless steel. He was also given an antibiotic shot on the first visit along with eye antibiotic ointment. He has had 2 upper respiratory shots prior to this.

At home, we have also scrubbed the area gently with a toothbrush with an antiseptic antifungal shampoo. I also applied a little coconut oil under the chin hoping to draw out toxins. Additionally, we applied the acne pads as recommended by the vet.

During our most recent visit, the vet says not to worry and we have not discovered a solution.

I am looking for answers so that our kitty feels better soon @senseicat

We have a Rag-Doll that is constantly breaking out all over her head. We think she might have a food allergy from eating our other kitties food. But changing food helped a lot. Also she gets allergy shots at the vet. Just an idea.

I will go ahead and change the food one more time and then consider taking him to the vet again to see if shots are needed. Thank you so much for your thoughtful response.

Anytime! 😸

This is what my kitties allergies look like...

She just got her shot the other day so it’s clearing up, but you can kinda see it. It gets much worse tho.

And the vet gives her cortisone shots to be exact. Hope all this helps!

Picture got cut off sorry

Kitty acne can be really tough to combat sometimes... we've had one that affected, and it was a long-term thing to finally get his chin in order again. In our case (of course, every cat is different!) the coconut oil on the chin (and also olive oil) seemed to somewhat keep things under control, and at least not getting any worse.

=^..^=

Have you thought about switching there food? So much of the cat food is bulked up with corn or wheat. We spent hours ( really) looking for the best for our children...... What we found was Purina Pro Plan True Nature Natural Trout & Rice Recipe. Trout is the #1 ingredient and it has 45% protein. This is one of the highest protein cat foods out there, and we can see the results in there energy and in there coat's. They are very sensative to change if you try this do it gradually. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Yes, my kitty is by far the most sensitive one as his fur is sensitive as well as his tummy. Luckily, he does not shed much so I do not have to brush him like his twin. He has been eating Purina sensitive. I just spent a fortune on Solid brand and mixing the two together to minimize effects. I have not noticed any improvement as of yet. I will buy the one you recommend and hope for the best outcome!

ohh .. so cute and not to worry.

Ohh she will be soon better god will make her better

Will be better with time. You must take her to a veterinary doctor.
