The olive trees in my area

in #life6 years ago

Here in Tuscany (Italy) you can see many olive trees, because it's common for people who has lands to make a very good olive oil. Sure, inside the city it's not so common to see one of these trees, but there are a couple of olive trees in the land of the father of my hubby!

As you can see, the fruits are growing up and I'm waiting to collect the olive to conserve them under the salt. I can't do oil with them because just 2 little olive tree are not enough to do it but I like to eat olive under salt and so I'm happy ^_^

See ya soon and steem on!

Hello @silviabeneforti 🙏
How is oil made from this fruit?
I have never seen this fruit before, it looks like a mango, I got to see it through you, thank you very much! 😊🙏

The olive oil is one of the best product we have in my region (with the wine ^^) and it's really good to cook and for salad. You can read more about olive here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olive ^^

Olive
The olive, known by the botanical name Olea europaea, meaning "European olive", is a species of small tree in the family Oleaceae, found in the Mediterranean Basin from Portugal to the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and southern Asia as far east as China, as well as the Canary Islands and Réunion. The species is cultivated in many places and considered naturalized in all the countries of the Mediterranean coast, as well as in Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Java, Norfolk Island, California, and Bermuda. Olea europaea is the type species for the genus Olea.
The olive's fruit, also called the olive, is of major agricultural importance in the Mediterranean region as the source of olive oil; it is one of the core ingredients in Mediterranean cuisine.
