Religionen haben schon oft Blutbäder angerichtet, aber es soll heute nicht um Spa und Wellness gehen sondern um ernsthafte Blutspende um Menschen das Leben zu retten.
Genau das tut man als Blutspender.
Ich bin im Kloster Maulbronn weil ich mich mich entschieden habe einen etwas größeren Weg auf mich zu nehmen um meine 10. Blutspende für das Deutsche Rote Kreuz zu machen.

Ich dachte mir wenn schon Jubiläum dann an historischer Stelle. Es ist das erste mal das ich dieses Kloster besuche und der erste Eindruck wenn man die Klosteranlage betritt ist erstmals riesig und beeindruckend.
Rund um den Klosterhof sind unzählige historische Gebäude.

Mein Weg führt allerdings direkt in die historische Stadthalle des Klosters.
Wer schon mal Blut beim Roten Kreuz gespendet hat weiß wie es abläuft auch hier läuft alles genau so wie anderswo.

Erst anmelden mit Ausweis, Fragebogen zum Gesundheitszustand ausfüllen. Piecks in den Finger um rote Blutkörperchen zu zählen. Kurzer Check beim Arzt der alle Antworten durchgeht. Vampiraction, 10 Minuten hinsetzen und dann für das wohl verdiente leibliche Wohl sorgen. Es gab heute Maultaschen, alternativ Käseplatte, Nachtisch, Kaffee und Kuchen vom Buffet.

Die Tatsache das ich Blut spende hat eine recht lange Entwicklungszeit benötigt bis ich tatsächlich das erste mal auf einer Spender-liege Platz genommen habe.
Man sieht die Blutspende-Ankündigungen regelmäßig beim durchfahren der Ortschaften. Über Jahre habe ich immer gedacht es wäre wirklich gut proaktiv etwas gutes zu tun wie eben Blut zu spenden. Doch wie es meist so ist hat man im Hintergrund ein Programm laufen das dir sagt: Weißt Du noch vor vielen Jahren als man dir Blut abnahm wie schlecht es dir ging.

Diese Erfahrung abzuschütteln hat wie gesagt Jahre gedauert. Als ich dann das erste Mal beim Blut spenden war (nicht an meinem Heimatort, ich wollte mich nicht vor Leuten die mich kennen blamieren) lief alles sehr unspektakulär und schnell ab. Es hat mir sogar Spaß gemacht, das Essen hat gut geschmeckt und ich habe ein Multitool zum Fahrrad reparieren geschenkt bekommen.

Es gibt aber einen Punkt der mir besonders sympathisch ist bei diesen Blutspende-Aktionen und das sind die Spender selbst. Es ist selten das man so konzentriert Menschen findet die eine eindeutig altruistische Mentalität an den Tag legen. Das ist vielleicht der Hauptgrund warum ich vom Erstspender zum regelmäßigen Blutspender wurde.

I am in Maulbronn Monastery (Germany) because I have decided to take a slightly larger route to make my 10th blood donation to the German Red Cross.

I thought to myself if already anniversary then in historical place. It is the first time that I visit this monastery and the first impression when one enters the monastery complex is huge and impressive.
Around the monastery courtyard there are countless historical buildings.

But my way leads directly into the historical town hall of the monastery.
Those who have ever donated blood to the Red Cross know how it works here everything runs exactly the same as elsewhere.

First register with identity card, fill in the health questionnaire. Prick in the finger to count red blood cells. Short check with the doctor who goes through all the answers. Vampiraction, sit down for 10 minutes and then don't save on food. There were Maultaschen (German ravioli) today, alternatively cheese platter, dessert, coffee and cake from the buffet.

The fact that I donate blood took quite a long time to develop until I actually took a seat on a donation bed for the first time.
You see the blood donation announcements regularly when driving through the villages. For years I thought it would be really good to proactively do something good like donating blood. But as is usually the case, you have a program running in the background that tells you: "Do you know many years ago when they took blood from you how badly you were doing?

It took years to shake off this experience. When I was donating blood for the first time (not in my home town, I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of people who knew me) everything was very unspectacular and fast. I even enjoyed it, the food tasted good and I got a multitool to repair my bike.

But there's one thing I especially like about these blood donation campaigns and that's the donors themselves. It's rare to find so concentrated people who have a clear altruistic mentality. Maybe that's the main reason why I became a regular blood donor.
