Heaven Bound? Which Way to Go?

in #life6 years ago (edited)

It’s amazing how many ‘ways’ are written about the right path for journeying through life. Of course, this path is proverbial. No one sets out on a dusty road with a knapsack, journeying onward, finding his way.

Hardly so! Life is full of experiences that look very little like a start-to-finish path. Oftentimes, live seems more like a roller coaster, or a case of dodge ball with a concrete block as the object thrown, in some instances. Seriously, most know that life can be emotionally brutal.

This post is inspired by @triptolemus. This blogger shared his views on one of the many secular teachers of ‘the way’ according to man. He ends this well-written post with the question:

Are you following The Way?

My first reaction was to bounce past the question and simply move on, considering his post clearly would conflict with my own.

And, in all honesty, I did bounce past, but, found myself returning to the post to apply a brief response.

In this post, I’ve decided to take the opportunity to expound a bit further on my response to his question as follows:

In the Book of John, Chapter 14, Verse 6, Jesus says in no uncertain terms:

“I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (Caps W T and L for emphasis)

As a Christian, I believe by faith that the Holy Spirit speaks into everyone what they are to do in a given moment. In short, I believe we are each Divinely Designed.

What others think you should do is most likely the opposite of what is in your spirit to do. If someone says you should move to a far off land; but, everything in your spirit speaks to stay put, then your decision is clear: stay put. Of course, following what the Spirit tells you to do, will be met with much pushback from people who fail to realize that you are God’s property; not theirs, not your own.

As a Christian, I believe one has to trust by faith, that Jesus, via the Power of the Holy Spirit, makes known what we are to do in a given moment; and that He has an infinite number of ways to make the Father's Will known to us.
In John 14:19-20, Jesus goes on to say that when He leaves this earth, He will return in Spirit form to indwell everyone who follows His Commands, according to His Father, God.

In other words, everyone who follows Him will follow the Way, Truth and Life, as mentioned in the above verse.

He ends the conversation by letting the apostles know that the Spirit-form in which Jesus indwells all believers today is “the Way” to live life for the glory of God. Also, for those who acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior, He guaranteed that the indwelling Spirit, known as the Holy Spirit would serve to remind believers of everything that is the Father’s Will.

He ends by leaving them with the Peace that can only be found in Him. He clarifies this Peace of which He speaks, as being unlike the peace offered by the “world”.

On pondering the word, ‘world’ I’m reminded instantly of all of the glittery lures and strategies the deceiver uses to derail God’s people from the True Path.

In essence, things that go against the Word of God are the enemy’s tactics. Everything satan promises a person via ill-gained measures, God can more than provide as a Gift to His saints in line with the Way, Truth, Life as Jesus defines Himself as.

I’ll end with an example:

Only God can bless you with the love of your life, aka a spouse who is a human image of everything GOoD. But, He may require that you wait patiently for this person to surface, while He smoothes either your or their rough edges. This could take a few years; but, like a priceless gem, well-worth your patience.

However, while you’re in wait, the enemy will do everything he can to send you an illusion of a Godly spouse; sometimes, just one of his minions perpetrating as ‘an angel of light’ (2 Corinthians 11:14 ).

If you are a Christian, you can know satan’s goal is to get you to marry someone who is not God’s Divine Plan for your life. He may even put someone who genuinely is a Christian; but, not who God has chosen for you. This is where the Advocate, Holy Spirit, shows up in your spirit, giving you a little tinge and even loud gong, if necessary to let you know this is not your spouse.

The longer you journey with Jesus, the clearer He will make known that He is leading “The Way” which leads to eternal life with the triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

Remember, Jesus gives you an inner Peace that aligns with the Word of God and your spirit within. One without the other creates an unsettled peace which is a clear cue that there’s a deception in the mix. The Peace Jesus guarantees offers ‘a-know-that-you- know-that-you-know’ assurance that this is “The Way”.

As an added reassurance He advises that those who choose to follow Him need not be troubled in heart, nor afraid of what the journey entails.

Best regards.

Peace.
